Every other week it seems I notice some non-Black person appropriating the hell out of us & it irks tf outta me. Hell! Just today I saw a mayo woman doing the clock that tea hand gesture all fucking wrong. All I could do was roll my eyes & walk away.

Even after being told to chill with that shit, guess what? He still says, “I’m getting my ass clapped!” I’ve heard many other whites say the same thing, using this rebranded phrase & it’s weird & annoying. I haven’t been back to his channel. I can’t sit through that.

After that, I couldn’t help but be reminded that white people love & continue to steal from us, use what we’ve created, & rebrand it as their own. They can’t come up with their own shit. They’ve got to take from somebody else! It’s so tiring!

A few weeks ago, I heard a white guy say on twitch, “I’m getting my ass clapped!” He wasn’t talking about sex. He was talking about getting beat up in the video game.

Now, this means something completely different in the Black community, which this saying was taken from. #thecaucasity

I’ve come to realize people think slurs are just words that hurt our feelings. No. Slurs, particularly the N-word, F-word, antisemitic terms etc. aren’t taboo because of that. It’s because historically when these terms are said they precede or pair with pitchforks, torches, lynchings & gas chambers.

some friendly advice: if you’re not Black and you see two Black people talking to each other on here, consider the possibility that the dialect is more unfamiliar to you than you think it is and the unspoken communication that is obvious to them may not be obvious to you
