Lots of our #srms colleagues got RIFd last week. I wrote to get them reinstated.

Awww. Thanks!
Jason Brinkley talks about his job search in AMSTAT News.
@amstatnews.bsky.social covers @drjasonbrinkley.bsky.social 's recent job search. It is a great piece, #statssky #hpss #geronsky and #AIsky.
Anyone else freezing their butts off at #JSM2025?
Hey, @sherrirose.bsky.social , we're getting to #JSM2025. Will you re-share the #hpss Starter Pack? Tag us, follow us, and come to our panels. I hope to see some of you in-person. We know these are rough times to travel for science. #defendresearch #defenddata #statssky #AIsky #MLsky
I am sharing recent job experiences on another platform and was asked to also share here.
Thanks, @drjasonbrinkley.bsky.social . This is free collection of workshops called FedCASIC. It's from our friends and colleagues at #Census and #BLS. #AIsky #LLMsky #surveystats #statssky #rstats
Inaccurate job description that appears to have been made with Grok.
It's a ridiculous job market now, #statssky #rstats. It's like Grok wrote it. Whoever wrote the job announcement or fed the tool deserves a field day on r/AmItheIdiot.
Eid Mubarak! I’m wishing our Muslim neighbors a peaceful and blessed celebration with good food and good company.
Ahh yes, but did you publish a paper with co-authors from Wuhan University before you started doing COVID research for CDC?

I live in Raleigh and have lived in NC since I was a teenager, my accent is as country thick as they come. When my 9 year old daughter comes to me and says 'can I ask a question?' I respond 'yes, ma'am' every time. I'd be willing to bet you are fine.
I'd love to see it visualized as an UpSet plot...
Need more organization and eyes on this work. Hoping to help facilitate reach. Health Policy folks, HHS is going to be impacted soon so don't wait until it is you on the chopping block to get involved. First they came for the foreign aid workers and I did nothing...
If your business had the same number of employees in 2025 that it had in 1970, would you even still be in business?
3. ICPSR.org - Data archive powered by University of Michigan. Lots of big and small data are here and there are some copies of some US government data held here as well.
4. PolicyMap.com - Professional aggregator service that is based on a subscription or fees. I have an account and still good. 3/3
1. Archive.org - Internet archive and wayback machine to pull up specific pages that were taken down.
2. IPUMS.org - Archive of census and survey data from around the world, including the US. A lot of good information is still here.

For those of you concerned about the recent take downs of CDC, Census, and other government data sources; here are some alternatives where that data might still be available 1/3
Dear Friends - Google 'Social Vulnerability Index CDC'. Find the links to the CDC websites that house information on SVI. Click and find all content removed.
*sigh*
A state senator in Mississippi has filed a bill entitled the “Contraception Begins at Erection Act.”
As written by Sen. Bradford Blackmon, the bill would make it “unlawful for a person to discharge genetic material without the intent to fertilize an embryo.”

There is a flurry of activity going on right now with the structure of the U.S. government. Check on your friends and colleagues that work in government, they probably need a hug.
Didn't I tell you folks to stop telling people about BlueSky? Or at least don't just blast 'Hey! I'm leaving toxic Facebook for not toxic BlueSky!'

It's inauguration day. Ratings are key to the narrative. Purposefully watch something else.
Two comments in one: less text and more tables and visuals. Also, put any prior engagements and work from the team front and center. You might have a neat idea but you need to show that your group can make good on your promises. 4/4
Be clear on your assumptions and you should have a sample size discussion for any study (quant, qual, or mixed) that justifies your sample size. If it is based on availability then just say that. If you are doing a statistical power calculation then err on the conservative side 3/4
First, don't skimp on the methods. Many lean into the science and make the best argument they can and they write a decent design and find the whole thing is too long so they cut methods first. Review is done by panel, including methodologists and the subject matter experts defer to them. 2/4
