lizzie johnson @lizziejohnsonnn · 49m I was just laid off by The Washington Post in the middle of a warzone. I have no words. I'm devastated. Quote lizzie johnson @lizziejohnsonnn · Jan 25 Waking up without power, heat, or running water. (Again.) But the work here in Kyiv continues. Warming up in the car, writing in pencil — pen ink freezes — by headlamp.

I remember when being a Bills fan made me a laughingstock; now we have our own Hallmark movie? #Billsmafia
Earlier this year, Dr. Jane Goodall sat down for an interview for Brad Falchuk’s new Netflix series, Famous Last Words.
The premise of the series is to interview people on the condition that the interview not air until the subject has passed away.
I’m sorry. I’m sending you best analgesic and soporific wishes.
BREAKING: President Trump announced today he will host this year's Kennedy Center Honors awards ceremony and contemplated celebrating himself.
Went to see The Naked Gun with @idsfa.bsky.social and guffawed throughout. My loudest laugh was at: “Haven’t you ever heard of Miranda rights?” “No, it’s Carrie who writes.” #filmsky
People talking about historical trans men: She had to crossdress for her safety! She used a male name and went undercover as a man convincingly for most of her life! Such a fascinating woman!
Me:
As I saw someone quote a therapist the other day “sticks and stones can break my bones but words can have a profound detrimental effect to my emotional well-being for a lifetime.”
A monthslong investigation by the office of Sen. Jon Ossoff compiles hundreds of alleged human rights violations at immigration detention centers, according to a new report about his probe first obtained by NBC News.
My theory is that if we taxed most of these people without telling them and the people they pay to manage their money didn't tell them, they'd never notice.
And if you'd never notice you should be taxed even more.
Dude, you beat me I only have 21! *Hugs*
The Culinary Workers Union representing 60,000 hospitality workers in Nevada has achieved a historic victory on the Las Vegas Strip. For the first time in its 90-year history, all major casinos on the Strip are unionized.
I get headaches every day but I’ve never sought treatment for them because I have so many friends with debilitating chronic migraines. This isn’t actually helping anyone as my untreated pain does nothing to alleviate their intractable pain. There is no point in comparison. All suffering is valid.
Mozart was a Freemason and a lot of the imagery in The Magic Flute is based on Masonic gender roles where three is masculine and five is feminine.
I have been to three drag and burlesque shows in the past 72 hours and now I must do another draft of the essay I wrote on Friday with greater emphasis on what drag means to me. I’m not saying it goes deep but one of my first email passwords in the 90s was “dragking.”
NEW: US delegates have delivered anti-trans statements during UN forums on: women’s rights, science and technology, global health, pollution and more.
The delegates have at least twice urged the UN to adopt Trump's desired language on men and women.

Not to pile on, but every 'c' in 'Pacific Ocean' is pronounced differently.
Part of being a survivor of serial abuse: danger feels less frightening than shame. I’ve survived danger, but shame feels like it could obliterate me. I have spent decades detaching from shame but when it’s evoked in sympathy, it becomes a deeply affecting traumatic equivalent of fremdschäme. #PTSD
I’ve just started season two and I wasn’t prepared to be sympathetic with Meryl Streep’s character but I felt so much catharsis at her dinner table scream of grief over losing her child.
Now you’ve got me singing “Do you know the way to Ba Sing Se.”
It used to be that they would do injections in more than one area at a time, but insurance has changed what it will cover and you can’t even get superficial trigger point injections done with joint injections, which means I go without them despite needing both. So I spend more $ on massage. #pain
And yes I did get my essay edited and submitted in a timely manner. Now I’m waiting for my afternoon meds to kick in so I can shower before my 5:00 FT. I couldn’t shower yesterday because I had a knee injection. It’s feeling better now that it’s roided up. Too bad I have to wait 3 mos for my SI.
Today's jobs report shows what many Americans already knew: despite record highs in the stock market, the “economy” is not working for ordinary people.
Rather than accept reality & try to address it, Trump chooses to fire the bearers of bad news.
This is what authoritarians do.
Today’s other film was “The Life of Chuck” based on a Stephen King story. It’s not horror although the movie starts with bad things happening. It’s told in a reverse three acts which goes well thematically with its treatment of time. Despite where you know it ends up it is sweet & charming. #filmsky
“Jane Austen Wrecked My Life” was very soothing. It’s less about romance than about the heroine’s journey as a writer, but maybe that’s just me projecting my own priorities. I hadn’t realized it was a French film, which was good to practice my listening skills. Will definitely rewatch. #filmsky
3 cups of coffee=600 words. I still need to go back and fact check and put in more personal emotion but right now I have a kitty purring in my arms and I’m not moving for nothing. Technically I have until midnight so there’s plenty of time to put it away and watch “Jane Austen Wrecked My Life.”
I Hope your spirit can convey some of your good writing mojo. I took my laptop to the cafe to try to start pounding out this essay.
Coffee it is. I just wish I could skip the clothes.
