A bid has been lodged for a new direct rail service between Bristol, Oxford and Nottingham. The plans by rail consultancy SLC would see eight trains a day in each direction, running via the new East-West line to Bletchley and Bedford before heading north to Leicester and Nottingham.
Like most other disciplines, accessibility takes practice, time, and patience. No one starts a new endeavor and is instantly excellent at it with nothing to learn or improve. If you expect your first attempt to be perfect, you'll burn out. You'll find excuses to not try. Get started and try.

#JoinIn was one of the surviving kind things from Twitter, first organised over a decade ago by the lovely @sarahmillican.bsky.social Essentially, just post some details of your day and have a chat with others using the hashtag.
“Be kind, add alt text.” Our bold, central message has pink hearts in a hand-drawn style above it, and social share icons below with a reminder to “help spread the word.”
As more people join Bluesky, let’s make sure accessibility is part of the conversation.

Photo of a large pond with trees and bushes on all sides. A light fog obscures the trees in the distance.
Bit late with picture of the Pond today. It was a misty morning for the Pond.
Have a good weekend all.
Large pond of water with leaves and pond weed floating in the foreground. A few ducks swimming around. Light grey sky over head.
Still morning at the pond. Absent leaves on the autumn trees are more noticeable.
Large pond of water in early morning sunshine with a clear blue sky. The low sunlight is enhancing the golden colours of the trees and bushes and in the distance there is a fine mist of the pond.
The Pond after the first properly frosty night of Autumn.
Pink haze of Northern lights low in night sky just above horizon

The Pond's cloak of trees and shrubs starting to settle into their Autumn colours.
Photo across rushes at the end of a small lake. In the distance there is a mist rising off the lake. Blue sky with a few light clouds.
A different Pond this morning. The chilly Autumn mornings displaying their misty clothes.
Large pond of water with bushes and trees all around. Group of ducks in foreground. Grey sky and fine rain.
The Pond soaking up the rain as best as it can.
Large pond with trees and bushes on all sides. Grey, overcast sky.
The Pond calm and still after the heavy rain.

Overcast day at the Pond
Large pond surrounded by trees and bushes with yellowing leaves. Blue sky with very fine whispy clouds.
The Pond settling into its Autumn finery for the beginning of this week. But still discarding the mist over the water as sunshine washes over it.
Large pond with trees and bushes around being lit with early autumn morning sunshine, just starting to show the leaves golden colours.
The Pond looking good on this autumn morning as head towards the weekend.
Given Bluesky's increasing success & features (and Twitter's increasingly poor leadership), we at CILIP - the library and information association - are going to be growing our activity on here, so please give @cilip.bsky.social a follow and watch this space... #FactsMatter #LibrariesChangeLives

Overcast start to the week at Pond. Hoping you have a good week ahead.
You don't necessarily need to say "image of" in your alt text for users to know it's an image. Screen readers will announce that it's an image. But it can help readers to specify if it's a hand-drawn image, Polaroid, infographic, screenshot, chart, map, diagram, or so on.
A colorful word cloud generated from 84 responses, centered around the question ‘What are the top 5 skills required by effective digital leaders?’ The most prominent words, indicating the most frequently mentioned skills, include ‘empathy,’ ‘project management,’ ‘communication,’ ‘listening,’ and ‘diplomacy.’ Other notable words of varying sizes suggest additional valued skills such as ‘adaptability,’ ‘creativity,’ ‘innovation,’ and ‘strategic thinking.’ The background is white with the text in various shades of red, blue, green, and yellow.
DLI's John Kilroy and I asked #ALTC24 delegates about the 5 essential skills for #digital leaders yesterday.
