We sadly report the death of Rob Wyke, dedicated Chairman of the Laurence Sterne Trust since 2010, on 23 Jan, aged 71. Former 2nd master of Winchester College, and a longtime supporter of Shandy Hall, he constantly worked to safeguard its future. Much missed.
This old post received a like, and on listening to Martin Rowson's podcast I thought it it was well worth a re-post. Book still available from our website shop!

Delighted to be working this year with the wonderful Kabe Wilson, artist-in-residence at Jesus College Cambridge, who will be creating new Sterne related works to exhibit at #ShandyHall. #LaurenceSterne #art #exhibitions #literature www.jesus.cam.ac.uk/articles/mee...
An accurate depiction of the house structure - which is quite rare in artists' renderings. And we remember that gate! Thank you!
One of my grad school professors here at SUNY New Paltz was Arthur Cash, biographer of Laurence Sterne. Classes met in his kitchen. Wine was served. We read Tristram Shandy, and he laughed at each joke and funny scene like a happy, new discovery. What made grad school worthwhile? Moments like this.
How wonderful to have known Arthur Cash. We refer to his Sterne volumes regularly - and it's the most enjoyable biography .
I was at school in Yorkshire, not far from where Sterne lived, and read both Tristram Shandy and A Sentimental Journey during weekly choir practice. Here is a picture I made of Shandy Hall back in the late 1960s before it was restored.
Tours fully booked now - thanks for responding!

Episode 333 – @jackewilson.bsky.social takes a look at the wild and woolly Tristram Shandy by Laurence Sterne. Who was Sterne? What rules did he break? And what power does it have for a reader today? #experimentalliterature #books #literature
