impossible to overstate how poisonous this shit is. dudes on the street smiling and waving at your toddler are an indicator of a happy and functional community

“I simply don’t know where he gets this from.” - me, with no bracelet or watch ever on because they’re “too itchy”
people get hella mad when you say adult drivers should be more responsible than children on our streets.
Spare a thought and/or prayer to all the Michigan moms with sensory spicy children trying to navigate the temperature swings and needing to going from pants to shorts to pants to shorts 93 billion times this “spring.”
This is the second article I’ve read where his beef just seems to be people paying for parking. Free parking is not progressive, dude.
Thanks for the updates, Jenn!
Sidewalk repair fund going to take a hit. #a2council
No, that’s ageist to point out! We’re a bunch of meanies!
But when they complain about students or start their terrible public comment with the number of decades they’ve lived in A2, that’s just fine.
I always say it’s usually not the students that ever annoy me; it’s their parents during move-in and graduation weekends. My oldest son’s birthday is always near graduation and I have to convince my own parents to not visit us then, like…
WOOT! The most entertaining part of having this PTO fundraiser run on graduation weekend is being yelled at by UM college grad moms because they have to be at Hill in 4 hours, how dare we close our streets. 🤣 #a2council
Boy, what a terrible headline.
We *need* the wealthy to participate in public services. If only poor people ride the bus, then rich people won't wield their power in support of public transit or, worse, will wield their power *against* it.
This is very upsetting. Hummingbird cake is a top tier cake!
Next time someone says UM never does anything for Ann Arbor! My pet peeve will be vanquished! #a2council

I sent this to my husband saying “Yousef’s platform” before I saw you quoting it. Lmao, outstanding work!
I met him when #a2schoolboard was canceling after school care programs and he was at the meeting to talk about something else, and like to think that craziness got him even more involved in local politics.
Did the “I saw a bird” prompt with my two sons with very predictable result:
G: *earnest tone* “Cool, that’s so nice. What color was it?”
E: *sarcastic tone* “You saw a bird? Wow.” 🙄
A personal disaster for my family with a kid who sees multiple specialists in Ann Arbor if this happens.
Do I yell at MM, our employer for choosing BCBS as the insurance dance provider, or anyone else who can tell those two this is some bullshit?
Or sell (almost undoubtedly for a profit on the purchase price) and be done with the landlord life if it’s so hard!
Like is there really enrollment pressure in these northeast area schools to justify this purchase with sinking funds while an actually run down building with 450+ kids is having its renovations delayed? Maybe, but bond and sinking funds decisions are very opaque!

Delaying Burns Park Elementary (one of the largest and popular for enrollment elementary schools) modernization any more is a nightmare. This has been promised since before the bond and I would say a big reason the bond even passed given how engaged that neighborhood is.
I know #a2council folks like to (many times deservedly) give Burns Park a hard time for bougie entitlement, but Burns Park Elementary is falling apart, with uneven heating and cooling, playground equipment that sits broken for months on end, flooding, asbestos, etc. #a2schoolboard needs to fix it!
Also tell me why we have enough money for two admin buildings but my kids art room smells like burning crayons whenever the heat is on (literally all winter)? #a2schools #a2schoolboard #a2council

Forever reminding any person in Ann Arbor to stop voting for Susan Baskett, a horrible #a2schoolboard member who has been on this opaque bond committee, a NIMBY who encourages AAPS acquisition of land to prevent development (and the not granting easements for Lockwood if #a2council remembers!)
Between the no contract for teachers and now this “Oops, we don’t have enough $ for the new school we promised when you voted for the bond” news, I’m feeling like maybe it’s time to start paying more attention to #a2schoolboard over #a2council for me.

Back on my #a2council planning commission watching. 3 minutes is too long, sorry not sorry.
I also can’t handle the old guy who lists everything wrong with Ann Arbor (including gridlock, which lol) so it’s not a desirable place to live so we shouldn’t be building up. May he be put out of his misery soon. #a2council
I’m just catching up by watching #a2council planning insanity and some comments are so ignorant I can’t even. Why can’t we price fix South Town development for teachers?! Read a law!!! I cannot be a commissioner ever because my face would be Liz Lemon eye rolling all the time.
My pet peeve is practically nonexistent parking fees downtown (especially if you just come at 6:00 for dinner and leave a few hours later back to Chelsea or wherever you live) and he wants to lower rates? Absolutely not.
People complain the city doesn’t plow roads well and #a2council is so out of touch with drivers, so they don’t care
Now with a possible on-street parking ban to do better snow plowing it’s all where could they possibly park and doesn’t council understand people have cars?!
It’s maddening.
