I'm hoping maybe I can potentially do a breakdown at some point in the future either through Pix or Renderdoc or something - but really, even just playing it, the optimizations speak for themselves. I've only just started playing and it is definitely some of the best art at runtime I've ever seen.

It is incredibly well optimized, and some of the best Art I've ever seen by both environment an art teams. Shading is absolutely top-notch, and I am completely and utterly inspired by the optimization and rendering. I truly have not felt this way in a long time about #gamedev.

So I know I'm a little late, and after playing the incredibly beautiful Resident Evil: Requiem - Final Fantasy 7 REMAKE INTEGRADE is probably the most beautiful, and insanely well done #ue4 game I've ever played. If you happen to know any of the staff, give them my highest compliments please. <3

Just your reminder - If Tony Hawks Underground from 2003, a 23 year old game, can support entirely full HSV values, and the entire spectrum to color change a character. You can do it for #CVD (colorblind) support in #gamedev. No more 'swatches and filters', stencil buffer to HSV please. <3

Why put all of that hard work and months in to make something look good and then have AI guess and replace it after the fact - I'm so burned out from this industry. I just wanted to make cool shaders and rendering dude,

I'm so burned out.

The worst part is, not only is it effectively overriding all of the work, including shading models and rendering done by graphics programming and Technical Artists - it also requires all of that work to 'generate' the frame in the first place. It makes zero sense.

Been screaming this from the rooftops. It's so vastly different from what DLSS was that it really is getting into misleading and false advertisement. No part of this is Super Sampling related - it's not for upscaling, and spits in the face of any art made in gamedev.

Feels... odd? It says this letter was sent to Epic Employees, but it reads like a letter to the public. "Sorry we have to do this again" huh.

Very awesome looking piece! Wild that this is running so well on mobile, what dither pattern are you using for the screen space noise in this demo? :3

Yall can have your neural network cake and artificially generate it too. Or eat it. Idk what people do now.

Today I learned there is a term called "Neural Shading", where machine learning is applied to shader graphs and "Neural Textures" that store what a texture 'could' be rather than the texture info itself.

And I can safely say. I think I'm too old for gamedev now.
Byeeeeee.

Those of us who know what we're doing know what this is. We understand that Machine Learning has its place, that we can use it to optimize. But to this day, Technical Artists, and anyone in Engineering have proven - hiring us will solidify you protection. Random AI will not.

I would love to live in a world where we are able to replicate old consoles. No one will ever get to experience the Playstation Portable how I did. Even now, they are available. But there will be a time where you can't buy them anymore.

That legitimately terrifies me.

Life of a Lonely Indie Game Developer on Steam "Create the games you want, at the time you want, and live doing only what you love." In this realistic life simulation game, an independent game developer dreams of such a life, struggling ...

Wasnt expecting a little existential trauma from @kan-kikuchi.bsky.social - "You died with your final work unfinished."

Really pretty pixel art game, that deals with something even more understood lately given the market.

I'm so curious to know moree. ;o <3

Wanna start reposting cool shader work done in games, but I'm looking specifically to the #indiedev scene. What shaders or VFX have you worked on that you're proud of? Show us your cool work - I wanna see more!

DMs are also open if you're looking for constructive criticism #gamedev <3

Wild that one of my favorite silly things I've ever worked on, Desert Bus VR
@gearboxofficial.bsky.social
is unavailable in Germany now.

Is sad, I loved this lil thing. Especially since it is used by a charity.

Today is Sex Worker's Rights Day. Sex worker rights are human rights not just because we're humans just like you, but also any rights taken from us will be taken from you too.

Surveillance, police violence, debanking, censorship, we faced all of those for years before it turned on everyone else.

This is the downfall of the free to play model, no one wants to purchase in-game assets anymore, I dont know how you can have 97,000+ concurrent players and NOT make enough to sustain server costs.

What even is this.

Love that the industry I work in spends 4 years on a product to kill it literally a month after release.

Such a great feeling. How is the games industry still alive at this point?

Guess I'm making portals now. Maybe I could use the stencil buffer somehow here.
