As if making a proprietary engine wasn’t enough, I’m building my own compiled scripting language with a VM for modding.
Still a ways to go, but it can already handle simple sequences like cutscenes and tutorials! :)

For those of you with motion sickness, I implemented a teleport, again, hands free. No controllers or gestures needed, just leaning with your head.

Next up in my quest for hands-free locomotion - Jumping! I use the same system as normal locomotion except measure velocity of head movement. Over a threshold, trigger a jump.

Player collision!
Adding pieces of the engine bit by bit, including my own physics. Now with locomotion, I needed collision. Calculated directly against the voxel octree.

Movement is controlled by leaning. The system registers your initial head position, then uses that as a base to get the current offset from it, then treats that vector as a virtual analogue stick, with a min, max and dead zone.
In seated mode, looking far enough to left or right rotates.
Time to start my next game. The first focused on setting up engine architecture, now focusing on locomotion in hand-tracked games.
