→ Patient navigation & multidisciplinary support
→ Low-threshold resources (phones, transport)
→ Housing as a health intervention (#HousingFirst)

This is where #urology meets #publichealth.

Patients experiencing homelessness face major barriers:

→ Delayed or disrupted treatment
→ Deviations from guideline-based care
→ Challenges in coordination & follow-up
→ Structural barriers (transport, insurance, housing)

This is not about individuals. It’s about #systems.

In our new systematic review (Current Opinion in Urology), we looked at urologic cancer care for people experiencing homelessness.

Two key findings:

The evidence base is extremely limited
Where data exist, inequities are driven by systems—not “non-compliance”

Next to work there was also #horchata (with German ice) and ofcourse an obligatory visit to a Biergarten and #schnitzel. Last week Esteban also successfully defended his second master`s thesis and is off to great things!

Although he was part of all our team meetings online we felt it was much needed to have him visit Vienna and the @meduniwien.ac.at to work with us and deliver some hands-on training as well.

Esteban worked on cleaning the data from the #CANCERLESS project and also created a detailed data catalogue that will definitely support further analyses. He also did a very interesting analysis utilizing the Cumulative Link Mixed Model (#clmm).

For the last few months we had a pleasure of having a "hybrid" intern - Juan Esteban Guzman Benitez who is finishing up his master in #epidemiology and #biostatistics at EHESP - École des hautes études en santé publique with us in Vienna.
