Yes, screenshot was just for location ๐บ๏ธ๐Road is straight & 50mph. So shocked to see it had been mown - didnโt stop to photograph.
Usually in April this whole verge/ditch section is filled with Ladysmock ๐ธ๐ฑ

Aaargh! โจ๐ผ๐๐
The application requires a species survey, so will try - but the main species is Ladysmock ๐ธ
๐ Email update:
โI have checked with East Sussex Highways and they have confirmed it is a verge that we maintain, but we havenโt cut in that area yet so can only assume it has been cut by someone else.โ
Included in the email is a link to apply for verge to be considered as a Wildflower Verge ๐๐ฑ

Iโve messaged just now to ask council how we get this verge listed. East Sussex CC website says โAreas of verge listed & marked as being of wildlife interest, will be specially maintained according to the needs of the individual verge.โ
But also says a full cut of county verges every 4yrs?
I just donโt get their logic? ๐ Glad youโve one good patch this year ๐
๐ Emailed as soon as I got home ๐ Disbelief. Felt like a whole beautiful season was lost? It looked so wasted.
One step at a time โฆ hope to hear back from council this week.

๐ Iโve emailed Rother Council to see if they mowed it? Literally 4 - 5 days ago it was so luxuriant. Astonished/dismayed to see ๐

Screenshot of Google Street View dated March 2025 - a roadside verge, ditch and hedgerow - usually in April thereโs masses of beautiful Ladysmock along its length. Recently the ditch was mown, all flowers cut off.

Sad to see - local hedge ditch, which on Tues was a lilac/pink cloud of Ladysmock - now mown bald (pic GoogleMaps) not sure by whom?

๐ฑ Lawn here was mown vigorously by previous resident. We are *mowsaic* - some paths mown for practicality + an area of โlawnโ that blackbirds like. Everything else is uncut. Next to sheep fields & woodland nearby with Bluebells. Iโm reading views on their hybridisation (see ALT text) โฌ๏ธ๐ค๐๐
You share a clear sense of the wildflowersโ essence - thank you โจ๐๐ธ๐ฑ

Breaking: Epstein survivors release statement slamming Melania for trying to absolve herself of involvement in Epsteinโs crimes.
โMelania Trump is now shifting the burden onto survivors under politicized conditions that protect those with power.โ
Strappy green leaves of Amaryllis in a terracotta pot on windowsill with smaller potted plants around it. Behind are bamboo screens hung at sunlit window.
Morning sunlight dapples through the hedge onto the window. Instead of net curtains, thereโs a frosted film printed with white daisies. These all mix with the sunlight to make dancing patterns for a short time
Quality of todayโs sunlight is astonishing & welcome ๐ Amaryllis didnโt flower, but is briefly making a handsome foliage plant ๐ชด

Can we please get back to finding out whatโs in the Epstein Files?
