Our journal has published its first articles! 😀 Thanks to everyone involved in making it possible: the authors who entrusted us with their important work, my wonderful colleagues across the @natureportfolio.nature.com, our dedicated board and reviewers. Much more to come, stay tuned!

Our history department is building on its strengths in history of science & technology. Pass it on to anyone who might be interested.

(Just downstairs you also have a philosophy department that likes science and technology, too.)

I’d be grateful for the missing nerdy details. There have been surprising RCV results in the past: Peltola’s win was not guaranteed after the first round even though she was clearly ahead, by assuming that R voters would always prefer a R candidate over a D. This was not true: clear Peltola win.

Right. So, Cuomo conceding doesn’t mean much, does it? It doesn’t mean that Mamdani has won yet nor does it guarantee that Cuomo has in fact lost. That’s why I don’t understand the assertion of a win.

Is that how it works with RCV? Do we have information on ranking preferences beyond choice #1?

Why did you write that the mayoral primary was won? Can’t we count the votes and go over as many rounds as necessary until someone reaches 50%? At least clarify that it’s a projection based on estimates of ranking choices.

Why bad philosophy is stopping progress in physics Theoretical physicists are in thrall to a misguided mindset that allows viable ideas to be advanced only by overturning what already exists.

There is a healthy sense of crisis in fundamental theoretical physics

Attention metascience & AI enthusiasts: SSHRC is offering $140K/2yr postdoc fellowships, and I'd be happy to sponsor someone to work in my lab at UofT. If you're interested in how AI might transform scientific practice (for better or worse), apply by April 8. Let's question everything together.

Scientists are called on more and more to respond to questions about their results. We tried to put down some ideas for the best ways to do that based on our years of observing these interactions. Engaging is better than not, especially when science is under attack. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
