🌏 How are you celebrating Earth Day? 🌎
In Chicago style, “earth” is usually lowercased when preceded by “the” or in such idioms. When used as the proper name of our planet, especially in context with other planets, it is capitalized and “the” is usually omitted.

A rectangular teal card with rounded corners sits upright in a small natural wood block stand. The card reads: "I am resourceful and stay updated on industry trends and best practices." The first two lines appear in white sans-serif type; "industry trends and best practices" is rendered in a dark navy cursive script. The teal background features a repeating pattern of faint editorial marks, including paragraph symbols, carets, hashtags, and correction notations. The card is photographed outdoors against a dark surface.

🧾 Tax Day word lesson:
Amend = change or improve something written/spoken (hence: amended tax return) Emend = correct errors in a text (hence: what your editor does 😉)
Two different words. Two very different jobs. Precision matters—on your return and on the page. ✍️

Over-editing can drain your energy and delay progress. One way to break the cycle is to set clear milestones with your editor—and hand the project over when you reach them. Progress matters more than perfection. 💚

🌷 Spring typo season is here! Quick reminder:
✂️ Shear = to cut/clip, or a cutting tool
🌿 Sheer = transparent, steep, utter/complete, or to veer off course
One letter. Wildly different meanings.

POTUS Proposes Elimination of Federal Library Funding. The President again requested that Congress eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) and the Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) program. We've seen this before, and we're not going away. Fund Libraries, ALA 150, American Library Association.
"We are not surprised that the White House FY27 budget zeroes out funding for IMLS and IAL. The president’s intentions for IMLS were clear last year with the executive order to dismantle IMLS and cut off its funding [...] ALA members have a solid track record of defeating the president’s threats, but we do not underestimate the lengths to which he will go to undercut support for America’s libraries. ALA is working to make sure decisionmakers continue to hear from library advocates.” - ALA President Sam Helmick
NEW: The President once again called to eliminate federal library funding in his federal budget proposal. We have been here before. And when we make our voices heard, we can overcome this again.

Some outlets write "Nationals won 4–3" (en dash), while others say "Yankees won 4-3 (hyphen).
