Really glad that QoR-15 is starting to be used in regional anaesthesia studies as the primary outcome. Ditch βoral morphine equivalentβ and measure what is actually important to patients!
The #QoR-15 is a reliable patient-reported outcome measure for postoperative #recovery, highlighting that greater surgical insult and complications correlate with prolonged recovery and reduced days at home within 30 days

Happy 2025 = 45Β², the first βsquareβ year since 1936, the next being 2116. Its digit sum is also a square: 2+0+2+5 = 9 = 3Β². This last happened in 1681 and next occurs in 2304. And not since 900 has the year divided by the digit sum been a square too: 900/9=100 = 10Β² & 2025/9=225 = 15Β² QED. πππ
For Maths fans, 2025 is a square.
45Β² = 45 x 45 = 2025
Also,
9Β² x 5Β² = 2025
40Β² + 20Β² + 5Β² = 2025
My favourite?
1Β³+2Β³+3Β³+4Β³+5Β³+6Β³+7Β³+8Β³+9Β³ = 2025

When I saw this with my wife we both ran out of laughter and our faces hurt!!
Glad to hear how happy you are Danny!
Lovely bit of trivia for an FRCA viva!
Yes this is a very good point! Thinking defensively, I worry about how ones practice would be judged if someone aspirated with an LMA or under sedation given it is a known risk factor π€·ββοΈ
It is the diabetic patient requesting sedation for a short procedure, GA bad from an institutional and patient risk factor point of view. Do we have to say that sedation is not an option? Ask for a preop 24 hour liquid diet? I donβt have an answer, very curious what others are doing!
Yes gastric POCUS may have a role, definitely in ruling full stomach in. I agree for GAs a tube is needed, unless patients have been off them for 5 weeks (which no one is recommending anyway!).
Thanks Ed, I hadnβt thought about any impact in ICU. Gastric emptying of liquid is supposed to be preserved but I wonder if that applies to NG feed?
I was thinking more about elective cases scheduled under sedation e.g some opthalmic procedures. Would the options become GA with COETT or wide awake?
How are people managing sedation for patients on GLP-1 agonists?
