We're proud to be one of 137 orgs contributing to RACE Report 2025. A shift shows representation of people of colour and other ethnically minoritised groups has grown, but there’s more to do. We’re committed to our team better reflecting the diversity of the population 🤝

#BBCWinterwatch just featured Pine Marten distribution in Northern Ireland using NBN Atlas maps. Of ~13,000 UK records, 1,532 are from NI. A great reminder of how vital wildlife data is for understanding nature’s changes. See who provided the data on the NBN Trust website - bit.ly/winterwatch2...
Thanks Keith, it does now!
4/4 If you have any further questions, please do contact us at inaturalistuk@nbn.org.uk
3/4 It only has those which meet the requirements for sharing, e.g., have a match to the UK Species Inventory, have a CC-BY-NC, CC-BY, or CC0 licence, etc., (read more about sharing from iNaturalist to iRecord here). There are currently 36+ million records on iRecord.
2/4 Currently there are 4,617,116 records from iNaturalist on iRecord (the main platform for collating records from recording schemes/groups). Note that this number does not incorporate all 8 million+ UK records available on iNaturalist.
1/4 The proportion of records supplied per licence is over 50% have a CC-BY-NC (non-commercial licence), around 25% have CC-BY (can be used commercially, but recorder must be credited), and just under 20% have a CC0 licence (can be used for any purpose and no credit required).
We've been at #BES2025 all week and have loved hearing how citizen science and biological recording can support research and conservation policy; biodiversity data needs for Scotland’s nature recovery and how the global ecological community accesses, uses & shares data. We're in the Lennox Suite!
