I had the privilege of attending #BES2025 this past December and writing about the wonderful work being done by just three of MANY ecologists to form equitable collaborations! You can read about Amanda, Karla, and Niru's work in the blog:

I caught a really nasty bug at #BES2025, which has already ruined Xmas a bit. Luckily not Covid but feels just as bad. The downside to going to pre-Christmas conferences!

At the @britishecologicalsociety.org, we ran a #SilentAuction for 2 books & on the final day the winners of the highest bids came to collect their books.

Congratulations to Premysel who received Dalton, S (1975) & Jason who received Darwin, C (1897)!

🦫Research on Britain’s beavers gave us lots to chew on at #BES2025

We heard from two ecologists at @stir.ac.uk about their research looking at how land use impacts beaver behaviour and an overlooked nature-based solution these recovering rodents could be providing.

Excellent advice collated by @billsutherland.bsky.social at #BES2025 - how to approach scientific conferences (especially ones as big as those from @britishecologicalsociety.org).

Don't be afraid to chat people up, attend talks you fancy, and enjoy yourself!

What would you add?

Thanks to everyone who came along at #BES2025 to chat about my work on phenological synchrony with @kenandlindasmith.bsky.social and @piedflynet.bsky.social

Even for specialist species, mismatch may only matter in years where resources are scarce 🐦🐛
