A grand tree stands at the bottom of a sloping meadow, yellow from buttercups, on a fine afternoon.
Too busy for photos yesterday, so here's one from Sunday afternoon - the route into the buttercup meadow. Lovely! Have a good day! xx

After 5 years of no books published I suddenly have 3 new releases. The schedule is based on the story season - Cowboy's Last Stand is set in the fall, Sheriff's Honor in spring, and Last Man Standing in summer. tulepublishing.com/authors/jill...

"A backwoods camping trip leads two divorced parents into dangerous terrain when a teenager goes missing in this novel from 'a master of romantic suspense'" (Booklist, starred review). amzn.to/42tJ8YV
I guess it's an older title that got re-released. Really rubbed me the wrong way - violence against women, women acting dumb, beleaguered husband. Just f off with all of that.
After loving 2 novels by Blake Crouch I tried a 3rd, Run. Opens with a cheating wife getting thrown across the room by her lover. :/ Next scene she's with her family, inexplicably uninjured and asking dumb questions while her husband organizes a family escape from zombies or somesuch.
This weekend's movie is Beckett with John David Washington. I loved this actor in Tenet. I liked him in this one but he's not very heroic and the action scenes are clumsy, the way real people might fight.
Yes, I have to read the book first for sure!
I've discovered a movie on Netflix, Happiness for Beginners based on the Katherine Center novel. I haven't read the book yet but I'm going to. Outdoorsy hiking romance, hello. Anyone seen or read this one?
Happy Saturday! Looking for something to read? Here's a list of books that tap into the desires of our inner survivalist.
AKA: There's only one sleeping bag.
This book is pure joy
I like to cut a pastry in half as if I'm not going to immediately eat the other half.
My copy editor changed "prone" to "supine" so I looked it up to make sure. Found this image of rubbery male forms floating in space.
I'm happy about any kind of review anytime, though. Early/late, short/long, positive/negative, stars, flames, heat ratings, vibes. I appreciate the art of thoughtful response in whatever form in takes.
The editing process at Tule Publishing is similar to Harlequin or a Big 5 but the timeline isn't. Review copies are ready 1 month in advance vs. 4-6. Some reviewers won't accept review copies this late. It's a tight window.
Finished with copy edits for Last Man Standing. My #1 most frequent edit, as always: t-shirt to T-shirt. You'd think after 20 years I would capitalize the T. My characters wear T-shirts a LOT. And take them off a lot.
An employee I supervise (college student) called in sick once because she only got 6 hrs of sleep. I laughed but maybe we should all be more like this girl. No full 8 hours? Not coming in.
I'm up early to edit! I wanted to sleep in but at least I slept last night. I had insomnia all week. I've heard about "good stress" and your body rising to the challenge. My body rises to the challenge too hard.

Ladies and gentlemen... the weekend. (also: you are important and are not alone 🧡)
Anyone in the mood for a natural disaster? AFTERSHOCK is on sale for $1.99. Happy ending guaranteed! amzn.to/3EadUwE
I have copyedits to do for Last Man Standing. This week's been a beast so I haven't done any writing. Looking forward to the weekend + hopefully a full night's sleep. I'm a walking zombie right now, barely alive.
This week's read is What You Wish For by Katherine Center
I've been thinking of my book categories more. Popular themes include: on the run, in the wild, surfing, animals, crimes, quakes, California. My new series is a bit of a departure - small-town Texas.
This week's #FridayFling is from Sheriff's Honor. The prompt is WHISPER.

Anyone attending the LA Times Festival of Books this weekend (Apr. 18-19) at USC? Great fun, and this will be my second visit selling my books.
If you're there on Sunday (12 pm-5pm), I'll be at Booth 166 (Gold) in the Black Rose publishing booth. C'mon by and say hi!
