Sure! That's a novel use and has something interesting to go along with it. I'm just seeing a lot of, "I used Claude to rewrite old cold in Rust" and hope we don't expect the community to have to go through this stuff. Especially when different people use LLMs do the multiple slightly dif rewrites.

I’m looking for an automated way to read others’s scientific data without giving credit or acknowledgement, and also claim full credit for insights from it. And I want it to have a fitting name

OpenAI: We’re burning money like the Joker. A miracle needs to happen for us to turn a profit

Microsoft: Please please use our AI systems, we’re teetering on the edge here

Anthropic: I wonder what’ll kill us first: lawsuits, regulations or model collapse

Media and universities: AI is here to stay

Conclusion:

LLM‑assisted software engineers have to choose between reckless speed and paralysing verification.

With generation cheap and correctness costly, frustration caused by cognitive overload (from outages or extensive verification) becomes the only stable operating mode.

Today, we gave evidence in Parliament on protest in the UK.

We raised concerns of the raft of anti-protest laws we’ve seen over the last five years, including new legislation passed just last night that restricts repeat demonstrations.

I honestly think AI being popular with the worst people on earth (in addition to Boomers and Gen Xers) is gonna be what turns the tide. If your parents like something it isn't cool. And having CEOs whine about not enough people adopting AI makes it even less cool. Subcultural capital matters

Regular reminder that the literal 1st full conversation in ALIEN is a contract negotiation, & that everything that goes wrong throughout those movies happens because the Weyland-Yutani Corporation programmed all of its "AI" systems to put any possibility of profit over & above the lives of the crew.

UK reliance on US big tech companies is ‘national security risk’, claims report | Computer Weekly The UK is over-reliant on a small number of big tech companies to provide critical data centres, software and digital infrastructure, placing national security at risk. A report by the Open Rights…

The UK's "over-reliance on foreign [tech] companies has become an urgent issue of national security as US foreign policy actions are creating geopolitical uncertainty.”

Our new report calls for the UK to pursue Digital Sovereignty to protect its critical infrastructure.

By 2021, Orbán had already implemented every anti-LGBTQ+ ban now sweeping the US. In 2023, he said of this: "Hungary is actually an incubator where experiments are done on the future of conservative policies." This was clearly true. May his 2026 loss tomorrow continue to prefigure fascism's future.

8/ Also baked in the weird translation tables for you,
@dumack.bsky.social - but in ETP mode, that is unfortunately not supported from the GeneMark side; should work in ET and EP mode. We are working on a very different solution for protists...

3/ Repeat masking baked in. Evidence types first-class: RNA-Seq, PacBio IsoSeq (BAM/FASTQ), proteins, plus a dual mode fusing all three. VARUS pulls SRA from just genus + species. UTRs via StringTie2. Optional ncRNA: rRNA, tRNA, Rfam, lncRNA merged into one GFF3.

I certainly hope to not receive any review requests for this type of software. DOI is fine, but I don't want to see informatics journals start accepting '"I" rewrote program X in language Y' type articles.

I'm not looking forward to a future where all the tools are being vibe-rewritten into languages people don't want to learn. Who will maintain all this? The original maintainers won't. It's not the language they were comfortable with. Does the prompter understand the tool well enough?

On the acceptance of GenAI
Joep Schuurkes — 5 April 2026
By using GenAl:
• I accept the models were trained on stolen data.
• I accept that the data was labeled by exploited workers.
• I accept the environmental costs of the data centers running these models.
• I accept that I am outsourcing some of my skills to a company.
• I accept these companies don't have a viable business model.
• I accept that I am granting more power to big tech and their vision for the world.
• I accept that I am granting more power to the United States.
• I accept that all this effort could have spent elsewhere

Refusal to Review I wrote the below email, when invited to review a paper that was partially processed by ChatGPT. As I imagine the email could be useful inspiration for others, I decided to make it available. Feel …

“Feel free to adapt and reuse. No attribution needed (…) If you make an adaption that you also want to share, I’d love to know about it, too.”
