The fight to protect our communities, democracy, and futures from Trump’s cruel agenda is far from over.
ICE and CBP are still terrorizing our communities. Republicans will try to funnel more money to these agencies.
But today, we we're claiming a victory in a long battle.
Now onto the House...
Because of our efforts, @democrats.senate.gov — under tremendous pressure — held the line.
Together, we’ve dealt a powerful blow to Trump’s cruel anti-immigrant agenda.
We've worked for YEARS with partners to cut funding to the agencies that detain and deport immigrants, split up families, and terrorize our communities.
Today, we denied ICE and CBP $17 billion dollars. Senate Republicans folded.
The fight isn't over, but today, WE WON.
Late last night, Republicans caved and let the Senate pass a bill that funds all of DHS except ICE and Border Patrol (as Democrats long demanded). This is what’s possible when Democrats unify and refuse to bend to the regime's demands. We are now watching the House to see if this gets done.
UPDATE: We won.
Senate Republicans folded and approved DHS funding excluding additional ICE and CBP funding.
Our pressure just helped deny ICE and CBP more than $17 billion.
@democrats.senate.gov held the line! Now onto the House…
It's almost like ICE and CBP don't need any more money...
