Whatever untethered kitten of an object we turned into a kite at secret meetings was referred to as "the kitened" and if it got stuck in a tree and a fire department came, we were the order of photo ops

The message of the Right reacting to Virginia is the same as the message of "2020 was rigged": no victory by anyone but us is ever legitimate. We are the only ones allowed to win.

These people are cartoon villains entitled to no respect and no trust. Rabid dogs.

The average wealth of the top 1% is over a thousand times that of the bottom 50%. So isn't it wild that Inflation doesn't happen each year when the fortune 500 CEOs get $300+ million bonuses each, it only seems to happen when the poorest 10% get a $2hr raise.

Taking advantage of the app not showing images to upload the weirdest only-tangentially-related-to
-the-post photo I can find by searching my camera roll for goose.

Then changing my mind about the original post. It was a lovely post. You'll just have to imagine the love instead.

So much false equivalence in media on gerrymandering in Texas vs California & Virginia. California and Virginia maps approved by the voters. That's a huge difference not enough people pointing out

A heron in front of some reeds by a pond, with its hungry beak open, poking out its hungry tongue. It's facing left, which means it's not trying to eat you. Not yet. But you're next. Oh, so soon, you will be next.

The dinosaurs did not die out. They walk among us. And they are hungry.

Upper air balloons are just one concern facing the NWS as we enter hurricane and peak severe weather seasons A look at some of the other vulnerabilities facing this critical agency

Last month, an NWS office lost comms for hours during a severe weather episode, forcing another office also dealing with severe weather to handle services for two offices - agency infrastructure and staffing vulnerabilities run much deeper than just upper air balloons. More: tinyurl.com/nbw2mvse

The Last Woman Who Knew Everything: The Omnivorous Mind of Clémence Royer. When Clémence Royer died on February 7, 1902, she took with her into oblivion perhaps the last human brain that believed in and aimed for Complete Knowledge. She had devoted her life to the propositio...

French polymath Clémence Royer was born 196 years ago today. Now she is most known for her 1862 translation of On the Origin of Species which pushed Darwin's ideas into the realm of human evolution, but in her day she was celebrated for her encyclopedic knowledge.

Anyone who does that fake throwing a ball for their dog thing... well done, you outsmarted a dog. A dog that loves you and really, really wanted you to throw a ball for them.

You should be on some kind of register.

Blue-black Grosbeak

This is a chunky, dark songbird found in the humid lowlands of Central and South America, known for its deep blue-black male plumage and rich dark brown female, both with stout bills. A member of the cardinal family, it skulks in lush vegetation.
