The gallery key art for Kahuna the Turtle Dove. This is currently a showcase of my favorite OC that I plan to use for some personal streams in the future. However, the end goal is to develop a group of resources for others to easily create their own Mobian sprites, minus the Gallery Key Art.

The early draft of Kom-Huna. It took a lot of effort to find a happy medium between Kom and Kahuna. Thankfully, both being birds helped a lot. Prominently, the design uses Kom’s mechanic garbs with Kahuna’s funny patterns on top. The Pig Tails on the back are from Kahuna, with the comb-over being Kom’s with a split end approach. The potara hang off the pig tails due to the lack of ears. They stand in an upright pose and towards the camera, sticking a hand up into the air. Their expression is serious, with a small smile.

Beginning with the normal state, some basic effects are added with a clear looking sky. Angular shading dots the entire piece, drawing inspiration from the more modern DB arcs.

Moving to Super, I sampled a few colors from the official uses, most prominently StH 2006, to find a good base. Coupling that with more intense effects and a darkened sky brings this version a wholly different feel.

Finally, moving on to Hyper, I could hardly find any references in both official and fan media to draw inspiration from. However, the general feel leaned towards using a base of blue. From there, I decided to use a pearlescent hue and a lightened RGB combo to bring the effect home. The background moves to a stark black, with this piece focusing more on the fewer, more detailed colored effects.

With all the attention Vegito has been getting in Dragon Ball games, I wanted to have a little bit of fun while also paying an homage to Super and Hyper as well.
