Android now stops you sharing your location in photos My wife and I run OpenBenches. It's a niche little site which lets people share photos of memorial benches and their locations. Most modern phones embed a geolocation within the photo's metadata, so we use that information to put the photos on a map. Google's Android has now broken that. On the web, we used to use: ⧉ HTML That opened the phone's photo p…

I was recreationally reading the What3Words accounts and noted they'll need to raise more money soon, but surely they wouldn't dare run another crowdfunder given the hilariously bad financials.

Well apparently they would. Here we go again.

Dull greens and gold.

Dull greens and gold.

Trying out a new design & layout for https://openbenches.org/ but I hate the colour scheme I've chosen.

Can anyone suggest a palette which looks clean, modern, and is accessible?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

I had a bloke on a video call in the quiet carriage. I waited until he was speaking before leaning in front of his laptop camera to tell him to shut up

His colleagues looked suitably unimpressed.

Instead we get a regurgitated press release and a PR comment from the NHS.

No investigation of the actual issue or if it is a significant problem.

I'm fully prepared to believe that the NHS should manufacture its own scalples & should employ its own gardeners.

But this article isn't convincing.

Once again, the Graunuaid failing to do any proper journalism.

* Is ~13% an outrageous profit margin?
* Does all of that profit come from NHS work?
* What's the cost of the NHS building its own services?
*In fact, what actual services are these?
* Is this figure higher or lower than the past?

Paul got me an awesome Klingon bat’leth pizza cutter for my birthday! The crazy face pic is when he said that smiling didn’t look Klingon enough 😂

Can you please add alt text to your images. I block all mentions of certain people - but that doesn't work unless they're mentioned in the alt.

Cheapest way to keep a UK mobile number using an eSIM I have an old mobile phone number that I'd like to keep. I think it is registered with a bunch of services for 2FA by SMS, but I can't be sure. So I want to keep it for a couple of years just in case I need it to log on to something. I don't want to faff around with physical SIMs, so I went looking for the cheapest way to keep my number for the longest time. There are a whole bunch of providers…

FobCam '25 - All my MFA tokens on one page Some ideas are timeless. Back in 2004, an anonymous genius set up "FobCam". Tired of having to carry around an RSA SecurID token everywhere, our hero simply left the fob at home with an early webcam pointing at it. And then left the page open for all to see. Security expert Bruce Schneier approved of this trade-off between security and usability - saying what we're all thinking: Here’s a guy w…

I'm tired of having to open an app every time I need a 2FA code - so I stuck them all on a website.

While the phrase "There is no 'I' in team" is a common idiom regarding collaboration, the word "teamwork" itself contains one "i".

Book Review: Small Comfort by Ia Genberg I was left somewhat unconvinced by this book. I liked the concept - a series of interrelated stories all told in different styles. Much like the film "Lola RenntRun Lola Run" there's a briefcase full of cash, a cast of morally ambiguous characters, and a meandering philosophical discussion about the nature of economic salvation. It slams together the naïve and the cynical into a bunch of …
