If you wonder if some program has causal evidence, you can check ies.ed.gov/ncee/wwc/ or www.evidenceforessa.org
Not being in those evidence clearinghouses could just mean the program hasn't been reviewed, but it's also a sign you should be asking more questions. #EdResearch #EduSky

Damn proud of Minnesota.
Sharing a recent @wested.org resource I co-authored on building inclusive, coherent assessment systems to better support students with disabilities. It offers practical guidance for leaders focused on alignment and effective use of assessment.

So excited to see my dissertation published online! Thank you to @sarahpowellphd.bsky.social for your support in making this happen!

My colleague Dr. Sehrish Shikarpurya and I got to work on a review of the use of Critical Quantitative Methods (CQM) within special education. In this review, we offer a blueprint for researchers to meaningfully integrate CQM into special education/disability-related research. osf.io/preprints/ed...

If you’re interested in reading policy, check out my new open-access brief, Legislating Literacy at the State Level, with six key considerations for supporting students with disabilities.
Like our earlier work with typically developing 1-3 graders, we found evidence of technical quality for MLTU (morphosyntax) and number of different words (lexical diversity). Again, CBM-W are useful tools and language and writing are indeed connected!
New article! We explored using metrics from language sample analysis as complementary scoring mechanisms for a sentence-level writing curriculum-based measure to provide proxies of linguistic skills that underlie writing in 1-3 graders with writing difficulties. journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/...
Looking forward to this conversation next week on how #assessment systems can better support students with disabilities
I am from Arizona. I say this sometimes as well and wouldn't think much of it if someone said the same to me. Perhaps a Western U.S. thing?
Excited to share this policy brief on state requirements for teacher training re: literacy. Kudos to @emilyhardeman.bsky.social and Sarah Papineau!
If you think COVID vaccines should continue to be available to all: take 5 min and add your comments at the link below. (Advice for what to say in the linked thread.)

A cheap one is also probably fine too, but Florida blood. The 2020 AZ transplant version of me understands.
Sweater/light layers, pants, and closed toe shoes for regular wear. If you have a decent puffy or fleece (better if meant for cold weather and not a ~*fashion*~ type jacket you get at a Target), that should keep you warm and see you through. Have fun at AERA (I am assuming)!
“This is not what we voted for.” Yes, yes, it is. You just didn’t think it could destroy you, too.
