A cyanotype photogram made by Atkins which was part of her 1843 book, Photographs of British Algae: Cyanotype Impressions

English botanist & photographer Anna Atkins (b. #OTD in 1799) is often considered the first person to publish a book illustrated with photographic images.

Some sources say that she was the first woman to create a photograph.

Any other year, the answer would be (and has been) yes. This year,though, it is doubtful due to family visits this week and an issue with our dog that needs vet attention. It is a three-hour drive to Bite for us. Sad, as this is a favorite show..always packed and many of my favorite people there!

My first experience was in May 2024. Has been something I've wanted to see all my life, so that was quite thrilling. Last night's display was the clearest and most active of the three times I've seen them.

So grateful to have been able to experience the aurora last night. Ribbons of light were moving above us. Such beauty!

Tonight we attended the Au Naturel opening at Clatsop Community Colllege. Beautiful renderings of the human form in this national call show. Congrats to Nanette Wallace -who creates wonderful, evocative monotypes - for the purchase award!
