I ask the editor upfront (before accepting) if they are willing to wait until a specific date. If they agree, good for all and they know when my review is actually coming in.

Different residency positions are also sponsored h1b, which means hospitals/universities would have to pay 100k/sponsored resident!

Ageing, immune fitness and cancer Nature Reviews Cancer, Published online: 14 August 2025; doi:10.1038/s41568-025-00858-zAgeing reshapes immune composition, function and regenerative capacity, with profound effects on tumour immunity, cancer progression and treatment outcomes. In this Review, Dolan and colleagues examine how age-resolved immunoprofiling, insights from ageing haematopoiesis and preclinical modelling are uncovering immune ageing dynamics and therapeutic challenges — revealing new opportunities to optimize cancer therapy across diverse age groups.

My 100th JBC paper Nobel laureate Aziz Sancar writes about his decades-long relationship with the Journal of Biological Chemistry. Since 1984, he has published 100 papers in JBC, including this “Reflections.”

I actually have a habit of sharing this paper with new students on the appreciation of society journals:

I still prefer society journals here and all in for this. But the reality is that hiring committees for example might not value society journals (impact factor driven) -dipping my toes in the PI job market here.
The illusion of « elite » science has taken over.

A Pilot Study of the Combination of 5-Azacitidine and All-trans Retinoic Acid in Biochemically Recurrent Prostate Cancer. Purpose: Biochemical recurrence (BCR) after definitive local therapy remains a major clinical challenge in prostate cancer (PCa), with heterogeneous disease trajectories and few established strategies...

Thrilled to share our first clinical trial paper on prostate cancer cell dormancy induction using an epigenetic and differentiation strategy. This was a strong team effort between physicians and basic scientists leading to this innovative clinical trial. www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1...

I am very grateful to CCS for not only supporting my fellowship work but also investing in my career development and being part of academic journey!

- Asking a nonexpert (outsider) feedback is always helpful. This helped me streamline 2 successful apps that I don’t think would have been viewed the same.

- knowing the audience. À cancer focused committee is different from a diverse molecular biology one for eg.

No memes this time! 😊

⭐ We also provide three datasets to be mined by the BC metastasis research community: RNA-Seq, WGS, and CRISPR screens on the 4T1 and 4T07 cells.

⭐ Our data suggest that targeting PIK3C3 activity relocalize the lysosomes from the cell periphery to the perinuclear region leading to lower mTORC1 activity in BC cells.

⭐ We revealed that dormancy-prone or dormant breast cancer (BC) cells might be eliminated by targeting PIK3C3 (the 3rd class PI3K), hence less #metastasis burden in #breastcancer.

Halting breast cancer metastatic relapse following primary tumor removal remains challenging due to a lack of specific vulnerabilities to target during the clinical dormancy phase. To identi...

New vulnerability of dormant breast cancer cells dependent on a specific isoform of PI3K revealed by Islam Elkholi, JF Cote and team @ircm.bsky.social. Really happy to see this paper out and to have been of service!

Aging directs the differential evolution of KRAS-driven lung adenocarcinoma Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD), the most common histological subtype of lung cancer( [1][1], [2][2] ), is a disease of the elderly, with an average age of diagnosis of about 70 years of age( [3][3] ). Old...

So happy to share the newest pre-print from the lab where we show that old age significantly changes the traits that evolve in established lung adenocarcinoma. This work sheds light into the importance of modeling age-related cancers in the context of old age. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
