Was fun while it lasted but I am happy to recognise that @sifa.id is doing what I wanted sooo much better than I was able to achieve, and I would love if @lanyards.app users signed up for sifa.id instead.

i’m not sure about opt out. should it be granular like blocking attie? or block appearing in all “ai” feeds and such? or “block in algorithms” as “algorithm” opposers ask for?

i wonder if there should be a declaration like “i only want to be reached via Following”. maybe win win to not see those?

can @attie.ai let us individually know when it’s time to self isolate?

2 weeks ago 3 0 0 0

We’ll look into ways to take into account the preferences expressed by people who’ve blocked @attie.ai. The team has been making progress towards private accounts. There was a lot of good feedback on the tech at ATmosphereConf this week, and we’ll have more to share soon.

‘The Whole Directory’

Feels like a big step in post-platform history to me.

Like a ‘toothpaste is out of the tube’ moment, with respect to this idea:

A world without fundamental dependence on one ‘identity provider’ is possible.

I was trying to quote @audreyt.org - guess it was in a context where people usually make quite different claims (about our nature 😊)

The concept ‘federated network of PLC directories’ you referred to sounds nice.

Where is the catch?

Is there no (meta) model necessary for this network in order to stay coherent enough to be useful?

I really dig the momentum and energy within bsky/atproto!

But, please let me point out:

** The DID:PLC directory that currently underpins 'the whole atmosphere' is still maintained by Bluesky PBLLC and hosted by AWS in Ohio **

Super geniale Sache!

Als Medienwissenschaftler liegt mir besonders diese Frage am Herzen:

"Wie können wir Medienstrukturen schaffen, die Unabhängigkeit und Chancengleichheit fördern?"

Aber ich kann leider nicht vor Ort sein.

Let <C> be citizenship status of those that are in control of the organization.

Let <J> be jurisdiction the organization is registered within.

For people who care more about changing J than about changing C this switch seems to make sense, doesn’t it?

Honestly this weekend was when OpenAI jumped the shark for me. I was willing to extend them benefit of the doubt right up to the point where they signed a contract with the government that allows autonomous weapons, while telling everyone that it prohibits them.

Not sure if the ‘Lack of Patriotism’ and ‘Enemy Within’ narrative will work in this context.

Goering claimed that it always does:

Historically, we know that even zen priests can be whipped up like that, but what about those that are chronically dopamine depleted?
