This is my favorite climate change chart. Japanese monks, aristocrats, and emperors kept meticulous records of cherry blossom festivals for 1,200 years and accidentally built the world's longest climate dataset.

Time to turn off the news and disappear somewhere simple. 🎧

Episode 30 - Wind and time passes in the Forest of Dean (40mins)

It's 8am one sunny May day. Blackbirds join wrens, robins and song thrush in the cathedral of trees.

As the daffodils pass their best and go over, the snakehead fritillaries start into flower. Glorious early spring sight. At Rousham House, Oxfordshire, earlier today.

Title: New year's resolution

A man sits at a table with a coffee writing in a notebook: “This year i will devote myself completely to reading serious, improving literature, forsaking easy pleasures and tirelessly seeking out truth and profundity in the work of the greatest writers.”

He looks at it
Says: Hmm...
then “Scratch Scratch Scratch scratch” scribbles out words until the text reads: “This year I will read for Fun”

“When the spirits are low, when the day appears dark, when work becomes monotonous, when hope hardly seems worth having, just mount a bicycle & go out for a spin down the road, without thought on anything but the ride you are taking.”

In July 1951, "Steel Grandpa" Gustaf Håkansson, 66, unofficially rode the Sverigeloppet, a 1000-mile race through Sweden. By not sleeping he arrived a day before the other riders, crossing the finish line on a flat tire.
