Part of the problem with any 'new thing' is buy-in from the community. When we shuffled here from Twitter, a lot of publishing (editors, ADs, librarians, teachers) didn't follow. I don't know how you overcome social media fatigue.

So who is going to step up and somehow create a new thing for artists, authors, makers, single traders, indie musicians, all the creatives who lost their platforms? We have an audience, we just got cut off when the social networks went useless. Publisher etc still expect us to do marketing. HOW?!
Ahh, thank you! Three months would be a dream. It’ll be 3 nights in Bushmills, then 3 nights in Galway. Any must-do’s for Belfast?
Yay! The illustrator for your book is amazing. Can't wait to see all the illustrations.
Thanks! So excited for Broomsticklers!!! 🌟
My family and I will soon be heading off to Northern Ireland to see the Giant's Causeway, followed by a few days in Galway. This is a bucket list trip for me - I've been to Ireland a few times since I was a teen, but never made it to the Antrim Coast. Any niche recommendations or tips?
Nice! 🍀
Oh, that's awesome! So happy for you.
That´s right folks: We are officially looking for more freelance artists to help us with upcoming projects.✍️
Here are the requirements:
A hand holding a bunch of tombstone shaped herb markers over a kiln (I’m unloading!) they each have a winged skull on them and say “here lies oregano” and “Sage” and “chives” an “basil”
I missed Rosemary, she was still in the kiln. How are we feeling about these tombstone herb markers? I only have two of each, this is kind of a sample batch.
Love these!!!!
Hey artists, if you see this, post a dog
#kidlitart edition
Well, at least you found it today! Good on you, sticking to your plans regardless.
Wonderful! Enjoy the chill week!
That's a lot of spinning plates! But sounds excellent - best of luck getting it all done!
Once again, it's Monday #kidlit check-in! I'm working on some final art this week, and hopefully squeezing in time to work on that new project pitch. After a few really busy weeks with life/work events, it'll be nice to have week of just making art. How about you?
- Have some fun scenes to work towards (and ideally a final scene in mind)
- Try to maintain momentum by working on the project regularly
- Write out of order if it helps
- Leave gaps with [fix this later] or [witty dialogue goes here] if you get stuck
It is clear that many cis people are not aware just how up to her neck Rowling is in funding and driving anti trans sentiment in the UK.
She's not just a person with a vile opinion.
There's a lot of talk about leaving Substack & whether it will be the death-knell of your newsletter. I have been on Beehiiv for 7 months now & @tlpavlich.gay helped me run some numbers. So, was leaving Substack worth it? The answer, for me, has been a resounding "yes."
Here are the hard numbers:
Keep your eyes peeled if you are driving around Chester! 😂 Seeing a fisher is rare too, but I agree.
Back at you. Some weeks are like that. I hope it’s a fun trip!
Nice! It definitely jumped right out to me.
Usually I spot a cool animal or bird on quiet rural roads in New Hampshire. Today I spotted a DMC DeLorean!
Friday #kidlit recap. I wildly overestimated what I could do this week. 🥴 I had a good school visit today (so tired!), revised sketches and started on final art for a mag assignment. I never touched my sketchbook, doh! How about you?
drawing sheet by Gina Perry for a hermit crab. Step by step instructions, plus 5 hermit crab facts.
drawing sheet by Gina Perry. Four hermit crab bodies with room to design your own hermit crab home.
Off to a school visit today! I'll be presenting to 3rd graders, then teaching them how to draw tidepool animals! I'm hoping they have time at the end to make 'hermit crab homes'. #kidlit
Woo hoo! Thank you!
Thanks, Erin. I think I was feeling shifty because I just did a dino drawing workshop with kids (it went great!)
Thank you!
Dinos it is!
I'm seeing that along with slow loading, and 'forbidden' on some account pages.
