Just one of those days -- ride into work without putting my foot down once. Green lights and clear junctions all the way!

Good summary. I ride my own bike most of the time. But also use Lime frequently. Lime and Forest bikes are super popular for the under 30s in London. A little pricey but super convenient and quick to get around

Ofcom takes world-leading action to crack down on exploitation of mobile networks by criminals Ofcom has today announced new rules that will make the UK a world leader in protecting people from the malicious use of mobile networks.

UK @ofcom.bsky.social is “banning the leasing of special types of phone numbers known as ‘Global Titles’.

Criminals can use Global Titles to intercept and divert calls and messages, and get their hands on information held by mobile networks.”

And yet there are dozens of ways telcos sell connectivity. Everyone in telco marketing knows that customer tiers matter. Sometimes technical proposals get reversed in that way.

Good strategy -- if you meet the right people and are switched-on, information will find a way through.

The amount of telecom industry news flow and pre-briefing ahead of #MWC2025 is... a lot. Impossible to keep track of everything interesting going on.

At the event itself (and associated dinners/drinks) I prioritize in-person meetings and catchups, largely with non UK folk

A few comments on in here that many smartphone users would settle for:

5G only needs to be so fast
Cameras only so good
Screens only so bright
Charging only so rapid

The no compromise seems to be battery life

For the Italian fixed line incumbent to miss a stretch target that was more aspiration than reality, is about the least surprising outcome I can imagine

Beautiful morning in London. Crisp and sunny. Cycled to the office today without a single red light and without putting my foot down once!

Why Verizon hid its 5G network in the Super Bowl stadium Finding Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile's antennas and radios installed throughout Caesars Superdome is no easy task. But the service providers planned it that way.

The long black: will this soon be the UK’s favourite coffee order? Fans of the drink, brewed differently from an americano, say its taste is vastly superior – and are turning a niche product into a bestseller

I've been a "long black" coffee drinker forever already

Breakingviews - AI and fiber bust parallel is partly hallucinated The qualitative parallels between Monday’s artificial intelligence bust and the one that hit wildly free-spending telecommunications firms some 25 years ago are uncanny. The quantitative resemblance is mostly hallucinated.

This brings back some memories

23,500 of 81,000 UK sites now have 5G. That's about 25% growth in 5G sites in about a year. Of these 23,500, only 3,300 (15%) are 5G standalone, carrying 14% of the 5G traffic.

It's anecdotal but Vodafone seems to use a lot of Band 7 (2.6GHz FDD) in London. Great strategy
