Today, there are so many reasons to lose hope. There is darkness, and fear, and hate, and loathing, and apathy, and cruelty, and disagreement, and division, and despair, and resentment, and blame. There is the bitter end of a journey marked by so many bitter stops along the way. The road has been long, and hard, and here at the end, it has been revealed to be even longer, and even harder. And so, standing here, there are many reasons to lose hope.
But there are so many more reasons to find hope, and I need you all to know that. There is hope in every shadowed corner just out of eyeline. There is hope waiting to reveal itself, if only we have the courage to look for it. There is hope in the small, everyday moments that drive us forward. Look for hope, and you will find it.
Look for hope in the rising of the sun. Look for hope in the gentle dappled shade of a soft woodland glade. Look for hope in the smile of a stranger as you wait in line at the store. Look for hope in the voices of those that are weary but still forge on. Look for hope in the spark of a campfire, twinkling and floating in the form of embers in the cool evening breeze. Look for it in the babbling of a brook, in the whisperβ¦

The darkness approaches. We will meet it. We will get through it.
Acknowledge the darkness, acknowledge the fear, the pain, the despair. Acknowledge it, and then choose hope anyway.
