A bowl of bean soup.
Made a riff on my bean and fish chowder, with lemongrass and ginger, topped with Thai basil. Gotta publish this one! The original recipe is damn tasty too: beantips.com/not-too-fanc... (Sign up for bean tips in your inbox!)

A panoramic view of Jackson Park in Chicago. In the foreground waster of the Columbia Basin - a lagoon of water behind the Museum of Science and Industry. The foliage in the mid ground, on the shore behind the water, is dominated by blooming cheery blossoms trees featuring bright whiteish-pink blooms. In the center in the distance is the monolithic Obama Presidential Center.
Hot take: I like the Obama Presidential Center...especially as viewed from the Columbia Basin ringed with blooming cherry blossoms. It's like Chicago has it's own, modern, Washington-esque moment
Worth the rewatch, especially if you’ve never seen it in HD, but not this week youtu.be/s4VlruVG81w
They’re playing We’ll Meet Again on @kutx.bsky.social and I really don’t want to check the news
Maybe not what you’re looking for but I’ve got a pretty sweet ‘90s Onkyo bookshelf receiver w/ matching speakers that I’d be happy to part with, gratis.

As @joe.germuska.com would say, now we’ve got some ordering power!
Agreed! I’ll hit ya up next time I visit the District
I often think about the cold noodles with the weird (awesome) gluten sponges
Oh man I miss that place
I’d like to personally thank @vocalo-chicago.bsky.social for dropping Good Life just as I sent my final work email of the week. youtu.be/RdpZTe69Wes
I appreciate you, sir.
Ours was born in that window before the covid vax was widely available and yeah. (Also, Catalan spinach makes great baby food. leitesculinaria.com/17580/recipe...)

Thing about having a young kid is that it forces you into a normal routine even when nothing is normal and I’m all outta normal
Rei Momo is excellent!
The only good answer to this question is that it depends on your needs. But they’re all fine except for the bad ones. Don’t shop aspirationally. Find the thing that does what you need today, and move on as you find the shortcomings. (I hack together what I need for each job in Airtable.)
In case y’all need more space photography nerd stuff: 11 years ago, we did a good thing with Reid Wiseman. apps.npr.org/lookatthis/p...

Woot! Lemme know what you think!
Been meaning to publish this one for *months* and instead I just cooked it over and over again and ate it and didn't post cuz sometimes posting is hard. beantips.com/red-lentil-t...
Tonight’s dinner is an exercise in the value of quality stock, dry white wine, fresh herbs, and shallots (all which are sorely missing from this bowl of rice)
A bowl of risotto with peas
Found some frozen peas! Tastes too much like dried garlic, but it’s not the worst risotto I’ve eaten.
Found a little in the fridge! Was in the pot before I took the photo :)
Italian herb mix, Arborio rice, garlic salt, dried minced onions and a few slices of white mystery cheese. Not pictured: a little butter.
Easter Sunday in northern Michigan. Grocery stores are closed. Guess I’m making… pantry risotto.
The framing seems skewed. I’m aware, and never use the stuff. But like many, I have tried it out. And that puts me in the wrong bucket.
That the broadcasters, who’ve always valued scale, are going that way says it all about the web ad/click business: It’s cooked.
Map nerds! 🚨
It’s weird how people think space travel is what makes the Star Trek utopia
It is who humanity chooses to be, how it chooses to distribute power, that is what produces the utopian elements
