For me it’s not at all about *my* desire to hear French (though I do want the CEO of Air Canada to speak French!) but about respect for the family and the heritage of one of the dead pilots.

One of the pilots was francophone, his family from Saguenay. It’s possible his aunts and uncles couldn’t fully understand the speech in English. Yes, it was rude and disrespectful to them for the CEO to speak only in English.
