Teapot warmer update: this thing is going to be great when I figure it out better. So far I've worked out how to boil water with it and keep it hot for a while after, for gongfu brewing. Also just being able to boil the glass teapot I've got will go a long way. #tea

I would listen to this album.

Thank you, I’d like to pretend I put a lot of thought into that one but it was late and I was tired.

So I’m going to mess around with it tomorrow while I’m working and can set it up and keep an eye on it. I got an electric one because I figure fire safety is important when you have as much ambient cat hair as I do, but the advantage of fire is that the instructions aren’t complicated.

The issue is - the instructions are only in Chinese. My Chinese is good enough that I can read the labels on the buttons, but not good enough for the instructions. So I had to use google translate, and that was… iffy.

Today I got some new tea items including an electric teapot warmer. I got it from a shop in China, which I didn’t think twice about because of course I got it from China, that’s where you get this kind of tea stuff.

I'm an introvert with long covid still taking precautions not to have it again and it's still not a good time, what a ridiculous idea. I wish people could do the minimum like masking at the fucking pharmacy and other places that immunocompromised people can't avoid but noooo.

Cis men are so terrified of stepping outside the lines of gender performance they will get soaked in a rainstorm rather than obviously borrow a woman’s umbrella.

the street to the bodega we all frequented. An umbrella. Which they clearly borrowed. Because it was absolutely pouring rain and that’s what a sensible person would do. Anyway this is what I think about every time I hear that nonsense about cis men pretending to be trans to get into women’s spaces.

One time when I worked in person at an office I was the only one who had an umbrella on a rainy day and I watched each of my male colleagues briefly get excited about borrowing it and then declining when they saw that it was leopard print, and thus would emasculate them in the process of crossing

Down a rabbit hole about tea pet history, I had no idea they were as old as they are. Even more excited about them now, and about getting a setup that will let me use them.

I wish she would listen instead of just assuming that what I have to say about this is about chronic illness. It's not about chronic illness, this was what I had to do with moving before I was chronically ill too. The moving gods demand sacrifice, and part of that is time.

My wife and I are in the process of moving house. She last moved house more than 20 years ago, while I have moved repeatedly during that time, last move one year ago. She will not listen to me about needing to take time off work and keeps trying to work through the move and getting frustrated.

Good to know. I do always try the second steeping.

What’s your current favorite tea? #teasky #tea

I ended up resteeping this tea all day, four times so far, and only on the fourth did it start to decline a tiny bit. Measuring your tea is the way to go. #tea

I really do, it's a lovely and functional cup. Perfect for green tea, makes the resteep easy.

Drinking kamairicha this morning. I got a mug warmer and am horrified that it took me this long to buy one, this shit where my tea doesn't get cold is amazing, I love not having to race the dropping temperature. I got out my yunomi style cup that @bellsandwistles.bsky.social made me, it is perfect.

Yunnan soft bone with a little milk, notes of chocolate and charcoal, lovely for crawling my way back to consciousness during the horrors of DST.

I've been thinking, tea in a mug is fine, and then for a while I had a Breville, which does everything but drink the tea for you. The downside of the Breville is that you have to make a pot of tea, there's no making just a targeted small amount.

But also a gaiwan is like "let me spill tea and water everywhere" so I am also planning to get a gongfu tray and be fancy. Seriously though, I love tea, I love tea in a gaiwan, gongfu trays aren't hideously expensive - they're often cheaper than a good gaiwan, what have I been thinking?
