As part of my #Italian studies I’ve been studying Pinocchio. 4 chapters into this children’s story and there been two fights, an arrest for kidnapping, and a murder.

I guess the world of serialised children’s story in 1880s Italian newspapers was a very different time!

I assume rules are the same in the new one? I normally prefer older version unless new version improve things. Ie id never play the old Caylus anymore over Caylus 1303.

The feel i quite different at different player counts, i wouldn’t say either is better!

Only think to be careful of in teaching. When you remove a working its adjacent to a ā€˜card’ and not a ā€˜space’. Workers can get stranded on the board if cards are removed around them.

Played Wolves. I still really enjoy this. I think today was first time i ever won! New players are always taken a back by how quick the game actually goes! Especially in the end when players start chaining all the extra action tokens. #boardgames

Played Ra followed by Ra and Write. Ra is a classic, I enjoyed Ra and write but its not Ra. I think if it was something totally different it would stand out more rather than be compared to other game. Both were enjoyable though it felt Ra and Write needed a deck preparing rule! #boardgames

Games played yesterday…

Die Macher. 4 player game took 2 hours including teach. It seems the reputation of previous version precedes it as people thought it would take many hours longer. I still want to try the full length version one day. #boardgames

The question i ask is ā€œare you gluten i tolerant gluten free or coeliac safe gluten free?ā€ How they understand the question tells me everything!

If they say ā€œhow coeliac are you?ā€ I avoid.

If they start telling me about chips being cooked in a dedicated fryer before i ask, then its prob fine.

Ive seen seen with menus saying ā€œwe don’t cater for coelaicsā€. This is much better than a ā€œask me about alergensā€ sign which normally means 10 mins queues being being told there is a risk of cross contamination. This is keeping me safe.

in talking about reviews "One person wrote: "If you have a food allergy and you want to eat there, don't bother, they won't serve you. Was felt like I had a disease of something."

That's because we do have a disease or something! If they know they could cause harm then its better to refuse service.

One place in London even said "We don't cater for Coeliacs" on the menu. This isn't discrimination. It's safety and if a venue can't keep me safe then its always better they tell me.

In talking about reviews it said "One person wrote: "If you have a food allergy and you want to eat there, don't bother, they won't serve you. Was felt like I had a disease of(sic) something."

#Coeliac (and other allergies) are diseases! If we told not to eat somewhere it's for our own safety.

Norwich burger kitchen defends strict allergen policy Jeff Taylor says the Bun X kitchen is too small to avoid any cross-contamination with dishes.

As someone with #Coeliac this article has annoyed me but not the way you might think. The owner of this kitchen did everything right.

Its _incredibly_ common for food places to flat out tell you if wouldn't be safe for me to eat there. I prefer to be told the honestly

Since learning Italian lots of English words make more sense. A field is ā€˜campo’ which is probably why we go camping in a field.

ā€˜Cancel’ is derived from ā€˜cancello/gate’. Monks would erase mistakes by drawing a crosshatch or ā€˜gate’ on them. Hence ā€˜to cancel’ it to literally put a gate on something.

Its was only a few years ago i noticed that ā€˜news’ was just the plural of ā€˜new’. As in ā€œwhats new, whats your news?ā€. I checked a few other languages to see if it was a coincidence and then saw the same in French ā€œNouveauā€ and ā€œNouvellesā€.

I enjoyed this but i think i found two valid solutions. I was able to slowly eliminate numbers but i reached a point where i couldn’t see how to progress. So i bifurcated both possibles and both seemed to work.

Finally played Torchlit. I thought Cat in the Box was mind be bending but this trick taker was such a twisty thing i was lots of fun to play. Only down side was there were maybe 50% of turns where you had one card and had to follow suit so no choice to make. #boardgames

Played Endeavour: Deep Sea. The more i play this the more in liking it. It just feels such a satisfying puzzle to solve but most importantly this isn’t completely solitaire. We irritate each other in a fun game sense. #boardgames

Played more Bomb Busters. Even after maybe 50is scenarios with still a whole box to open its still feels fresh and innovative with only one dud mission. Surely there must be an expansion for this day. #boardgames

Yesterday learnt Oathsworn as weve ā€œfinished’ Frosthaven. This felt like two very different games in one box. One half is a ā€˜go to locations, get clues, go somewhere else, story experience. The other half was a very cut down hex fight game lasting barely 30 mins! Still enjoyed it though #boardgames

Played The Gang with increasingly silly variants. I often forget not everyone plays as much poker as me and things like burn cards and tapping the table before dealing look strange to people.

But i will die on the the hill that ā€˜trips’ and ā€˜a set’ are not the same thing! #boardgames

Played a Decktective game. Quite enjoyed this one shot puzzle. We failed!

ā€œMoreoverā€ I also think I’ve been been studying italian a lot when a few specific things on one clue felt very ā€˜this is an italian designer who’s not been to UK’ #boardgames

Today I learnt Arkwright. I do something enjoy a beige spreadsheet Eurogame and this was incredibly beige and incredibly spread sheet. I would play again depaite it being very slow. I think i just prefer Smartphone Inc which felt similar but more of a game going on. #boardgames

I love the idea of real time games but they all seem to have an issue that plays cant praise for rules questions.

I saw someone else already mentioned Galaxy Trucker but that also what came to my mind. Players grabbing a token so first to finish gets an advantage next round.

I would love to know how much of the score pad for Agricola in a holiday home has been used up!
