Government to require ‘less information’ on chemicals under new ‘streamlined approach’ The government has said it will require “less information” on substances on the market in Great Britain as part of new plans to align with EU decisions.

In our opinion, this is only justified if the UK has a default position of alignment with the EU. Despite warm assurances to this end in the consultation response, we still lack clarity on what the UK counts as ‘compelling reasons to diverge’.

Today the UK government published its response to a consultation held in 2024 on the alternative transitional registration model (ATRm). The registration model requires even less information from industry than set out in the original consultation.

🇪🇺ECHA’s expert committees back that the most appropriate action is an EU-wide ban on all PFAS.
 
🛑RAC & SEAC agree that all #PFAS are hazardous and that there is no safe level of emissions.
