🚨New preprint🚨
Very excited about the last work led by Dugué Lab PhD student Yue Kong on TMS-induced #traveling_waves.

We show that TMS over the FEF can induce anterior-to-posterior theta #traveling_waves. These TMS-induced waves are rhythmically modulated by stimulation latency relative to the attention task and correlate with rhythms in behavioral performance.

Congratulations!
I am very happy to share that I was awarded an #ERCCoG grant to develop, test and share a new computational theory of rhythmic attentional sampling. Stay tuned for job openings!

Propagation of activity in LFP was termed "traveling waves" (TW)🙂↕️. But then people took this concept and began calling EEG phase lags TW🤨. This review delineated these two types, introducing first-order and second-order TW. Also, the authors review possible origins of two types (distinct origins!).👏

Together with Frédéric Chavane we propose that #traveling_waves across spatial and temporal scales, although underpinned by different generative mechanisms, subserve a canonical computation at the core of various brain functions. They would order neuronal processing to impose a computational syntax.

Open postdoc position👈
We have an open position, starting early 2026, to work on an exciting project aiming at better understanding the role of thalamo-cortical brain oscillations in perception with a comparative, cross-species (animal-human) component based on electrophysiology (incl. scalp EEG).
