20 degrees this AM (-7C) but I hadn't walked in nearly 2 weeks so I had to get out.

A bit past peak in Belfast this morning, got 8 miles in which is a personal record for me. #maine #newengland #photography #outdoors #outdoorphotography #landscape #landscapephotography #nature #naturephotography #walk #walking #hike #hiking #Belfast #belfastmaine #foliage #fall #autumn #leafpeeping
It was quite nice. We’re in a drought here in Maine unfortunately so the leaves don’t seem to be lasting long this year.
We're probably a bit past peak here in Northern Maine but still looking gorgeous. Hiked Hirundo Wildlife Refuge this morning. #maine #newengland #photography #outdoors #outdoorphotography #landscape #landscapephotography #nature #naturephotography #walk #walking #hike #hiking #fall #autumn #hirundo
Did some leaf peeping around Moosehead Lake this morning. This is the headwater of the Kennebec River near Rockwood. #Maine #newengland #foliage #mooseheadlake #kennebecriver #landscape #landscapephotography #fall #autumn #leafpeeping #colors
It's not often that this country boy ventures into the city but I spent a little over a week in Canada and had a blast. Here are a couple of pics from my night in Montreal. #Canada #Montreal #montroyale #mountroyal #nightlife #architecture #city #landscape #church #leonardcohen #Quebec
Stopped by Height of Land in Roxbury, Maine on my way to Montreal. Gorgeous! #maine #newengland #photography #outdoors #outdoorphotography #landscape #landscapephotography #nature #naturephotography #roadtrip
One of the timber companies I believe.
These ones were abandoned during The Great Depression
Yes, I'm 50 years old and just a tad under 260lbs - that was me trying to control my breathing so it didn't interfere with the sounds of nature - I failed 😅
Here is another video I took of the Ghost Trains I'm overwhelmed with the responses from the first! #maine #newengland #photography #outdoors #outdoorphotography #landscape #landscapephotography #nature #naturephotography #hike #hiking #train #ghosttrains #Allagash #allagashwildernesswaterway
I mean...Im not really a big train guy, they're cool. I just love history and a good hike 😀
There are some names drawn on the back of them but yes, these are a 2-hour drive over dirt roads from the nearest town.
Not so bad during the day
Very much so!
They’re only about 75 minutes from the Quebec border - about 3 hours from Quebec City.
Daunting! They're located 2 hours from the nearest town over old logging roads (17 miles of which are currently in horrendous condition). We were without cell reception for about 6 hours. The nearest bit of civilization with electricity is 35 miles away.
Abandoned on private land during The Great Depression
Indeed they are! They were abandoned when The Great Depression set in.
The railway was a short 13-mile line built by Great Northern Paper Company in 1927, they were only used for 6 years and shut down during The Great Depression. In 1996 a group of volunteers went to work and continue to maintain the trail.
Not this time!
Very unlikely, they’ve been sitting idle for over 90 years - that’s a lot of harsh Maine winters!
1927-1933
Not for years!
