Sheet music for "Samideana trinkkanto"

Sheet music for "Samideana trinkkanto"

Does anybody recognise this melody please?

The lyrics were written ca 1928 to an existing tune - the sheet music says it is a "German folk melody", but a record that it appeared on described it as "music by Schubert".

It's great, isn't it? I wonder how much of that stanza refers to real events and how much is about his obviously very fertile imagination!

I'm not sure if any of my ancestors wrote poetry, but at least two had poems written about them!

That reminds me of when I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue used to have one team sing the song, but leaving a gap for the other team to provide the names of the "animals" (rather loosely defined) that the first team then had to make the sounds for.

This isn't news to regular users of my online teletext viewer as it's been online for ages, but one of the channels has a service from this evening 40 years ago.
This was recovered from a VHS tape and every page painstakingly repaired and turned back into a packet stream

Christmas day was a very traditional day to get married, mostly because it was one of the few days you could guarantee everyone would have off work and would be able to come to the wedding.

Happy 175th wedding anniversary to my 3rd great grandparents John and Maria Lake! And also happy anniversary to my other 3rd great grandparents John and Mary Griffiths (152 years), and at least 18 other couples in my family tree.

We looked it up and learned that humbug was a word the kids made up in the 1750s so essentially what Scrooge was saying was “Bah, 6-7”

Alternate Realities Why competition shows from other countries are worlds apart

"Reality show" means totally different things depending on where in the world you are. I've written an article on how, and why.

Meme: "you've heard of Elf on the Shelf, now get ready for" with two bars of sheet music on what is supposed to be a bagel, but the hole is hidden by the music.

There must be an obscure British word for bread roll that rhymes with "cadence".

(Apparently it's actually meant to be "plagal on a bagel")

Agreed, definitely stop there. You only have 10/36 chance of getting a useful piece, and 24/36 = two-thirds chance of losing the useful pieces you've already got!
