I tried to do some digging and apparently, punctuation was very new in China in the 1900s. It happened to be in the 新青年 magazine where they were experimenting and adding new punctuations (such as: " ，" "、" "：" "；" )

if I understood correctly, “。” was used to indicate pauses in text.

Was looking through a chinese magazine (新青年 - New Youth - La jeunesse ) and found that there are many periods, almost after each character.
What is their purpose? I doubt their function here is the same as the period that I'm used to.. 🤔

🌰 listened to chinese music
🌰 spoke for the first time in chinese for 1hr and half (the sentences were never complete, very much lvl a1, but at least i understood a lot!)
🌰 practiced writing certain sentence structures (无论……还是，等到……就/再, etc.) for 2hrs.

i have never seen a square that starts like this 😮 i thought all of them started from center like doilies
