Why is #Politics so negative right now? 🤔
Ming M. Boyer @carolinaplescia.bsky.social & André Blais finds two kinds of negativity:
⚡ #Voting against a candidate
⚡ Feeling like voting doesn’t matter at all
Only one threatens #Democracy--and it’s not the one you think. 👀

🚨 New paper with Maria Grasso on generational shifts in political values. Despite talk of rising age polarisation, we show that gaps in attitudes are stable or even narrowing. Economic attitudes move in cycles, while social values have become more liberal – mainly due to generational replacement.

👇 All detalis in the post below...
It's never about merit. It's about white (male) privilege. If you want meritocracy, you should be in favour of e.g., gender quotas. Quotas help get rid of mediocre men who've been riding on their privilege. (Look around you... we've all seen those guys.) This paper explains: doi.org/10.1257/aer....
Many thanks for creating this. I’d love to be added!
Congratulations Reto!
