A reminder that much of KT's monetary success comes from financial asset/investment management, all helmed by Kou Shibusawa's wife, Keiko Erikawa.

Gaming industry in crisis?
Koei Tecmo just flipped expected losses into record profits.
Nioh 3's the fastest-selling title in the series.

I bet at least one important person at Koei Tecmo was pissed when Capcom, Sega, Bandai Namco, and Konami all got multiple Smash characters while they didn't get a single one
Console Archives Ishin no Arashi is out tomorrow on PS5 and Switch 2. This historic battler from Koei remains in Japanese, although it will have an English manual.
This week's Arcade Archives release meanwhile is 1985's Konami GT.
Apparently the instruction manual for Ishin no Arashi will be in English for this release. A small victory!

Fun look back at what I believe is the first licensed Musou spinoff from Koei. This is a Warriors game at its most mindless but the hours still flew by. Interesting to see what made it from the anime and what didn't.
Fatal Frame II Remake is localized into 8 languages, yet none of the translators are credited. This continues a long series of non-crediting by Koei Tecmo.

Much like last year, tonight with Yoko Kanno felt like a test run for something larger. I hope with all my heart we see whatever that is come to fruition, because tonight was the most technically excellent performance by anyone I’ve ever seen and it’s not close. I was moved to tears multiple times.

This game rules, it’s an open world game where you can pick different protagonists who have different goals from being a merchant to exploration to finding treasure to being a pirate to finding damn Atlantis, it needs one of those dragon quest/star ocean remakes they sell for 50 bucks
A new addition to our company origins articles on the site! Chris did a fantastic job - I suggest reading this one for the artful descriptions as much as the information!
If nothing else I'm glad that at least one person gets to learn this as a result of the article! ❤️
Why would Koei Tecmo do this to me?
“Oh, Ditto, there’s so much unsightly ash on the town, Ditto! Remove all the ash, please!”
Okay, let’s remove ALL THE ASH!
Aww you're too kind. Thanks for your patience on this one, Ethan!
Thanks for the kind words, Steve! Glad it was an enjoyable read. I truly feel the Koei founders have a special and underappreciated story worth sharing!

A photo showing the box for La Corda d’oro 2 (PlayStation 2). A cream slipcase with the game’s title written in an elegant gold-coloured font is shown on the right, and on the left another slipcase, this time styled like an old antique book, can bee seen poking out of it.
A photo showing the opened bonus hardback book from the same package. This is wider than it is tall, with a music CD styled to look like an old LP on the left, and a photo book (an art book full of illustrations) on the right.
Stuck my hand in my Koei but for today’s #RandomGameSaturday and pulled out La Corda d’oro 2! This version comes in a book-like box (I always love those) and includes the bonus music CD/art book down in the second image. Beautiful!
I can't stop playing pokopia. It's been fun restoring light and electricity in bleak beach. 🔌💡🏖️ You cooked, Koei Tecmo 👍🏼
Koei Tecmo, Team Ninja and Konami has debuted new free DLC bringing together the worlds of Silent Hill F and Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake.
Koei Tecmo released Winning Post 10 2026 on March 26, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch. This 34-year culmination features a refined system for logical bloodline analysis. It is statistically the series' most complete model. 🔬
+1 for DQB2!
Try Dragon Quest Builders 2 for Switch. Koei Tecmo developed that one too for Square Enix. It’s essentially where the Inspo for Pokopia came from.
