That’s what I like to hear
Someone's angling for a painless death at the hands of our future robotic overlords.
Haha not at all! No shade intended.
I’m finding the writing, or at least the translation, rather hard going! But I did enjoy The Vegetarian so I should see where it goes.
[succulent Chinese meal voice] get your hands off my burning fuse of elation and transgression!
The terror was still only vague, the pain hesitant to reveal its burning circuit from the depths of silence. Where spelling, phonemes and loose meaning met, a slow-burning fuse of elation and transgression was lit.
Can only assume this Nobel Prize-winning author’s prose reads better in the original Korean because blimey
[Grain. Distortion. Doorway in a half-demolished building. Interference. Church. Pedestrian icon on asphalt. Mouth? The pedestrian's skull face. Black monumental cross. Hands? Missing poster. As someone on here once said regarding those challenges, you have words, use them!
My Baldur's Gate 3 experience consists of learning about a piece of kit that would give my character untold powers, then discovering that I killed the NPC who would have sold it to me twenty hours ago.
From The Mirror & the Light: "he bounced the king's person up and down by the shoulders; that he seized him by the ears and bellowed into his face: 'Breathe, you fucker, breathe!'" [the last sentence being the chorus of the Ministry song "Breathe".]
Hilary Mantel giving Ministry fans a little thrill
Christopher Reeve was the best Clark & Superman because of this wonderful scene where his change of posture, gestures & tone of voice are all perfectly calibrated within a beautifully composed shot.
No CGI required to show his transformation.
He & Margot Kidder are much missed.

Still shot from a Murder, She Wrote. Jessica is surrounded by a halo of light and she looks as if she is transforming into something not quite human.
The blood ritual complete, Jessica Fletcher ascends to the godhead - tonight, on Murder, She Wrote
The only reason I'm familiar with this one is that a friend of mine, who I was crushing on big time, was a VF fan and she taped it for me. The upside was that I ended up buying the Add It Up compilation, which I still have, and which is probably all I need tbh.
I assume it’s signed by the band.
While shopping today I saw a signed copy of this for $50. You’re really paying for the signatures - they can’t give away unsigned copies.
I did not buy *that* CD but I did buy these #cdfriday
Homer Simpson listing highbrow cultural events to Marge. "Oh, and an evening with Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer. Just an evening?"
An Evening With Neil Gaiman & Amanda Palmer CD sitting on top of some other CDs in a record store.

Always been funny to me that they're demanding the ladies turn off "that garbage" so they can watch... sport?

🎵 Gratefully crouched at the starting line 🙏
[chittering] is always a good subtitle. You know some shit's about to go down.
Not now, airborne toxic event
Score. I seem to have accumulated a stack of his books, although so far I have only read The Children of Dynmouth.
Billy For Thee Williams but not Billy For Me Williams
Me: “Now listen closely and tell me what you hear: chunk chunk”
Caveman: “BIIIG Chunk Chunk?”
Me: “Yes! A very big chunk chunk!”
Caveman (overjoyed): “Big Chunk Chunk! Big Chunk Chunk!”
