Someone's angling for a painless death at the hands of our future robotic overlords.

I’m finding the writing, or at least the translation, rather hard going! But I did enjoy The Vegetarian so I should see where it goes.

The terror was still only vague,
the pain hesitant to reveal its burning circuit from the depths of silence. Where spelling, phonemes and loose meaning met, a slow-burning fuse of elation and transgression was lit.

[Grain. Distortion. Doorway in a half-demolished building. Interference. Church. Pedestrian icon on asphalt. Mouth? The pedestrian's skull face. Black monumental cross. Hands? Missing poster. Staircase. Telecoms tower. Horse. Eye? Doorway again – and a laughing puppet? Thin Places in Hard Concrete.]

My Baldur's Gate 3 experience consists of learning about a piece of kit that would give my character untold powers, then discovering that I killed the NPC who would have sold it to me twenty hours ago.

From The Mirror & the Light: "he bounced the king's person up and down by the shoulders; that he seized him by the ears and
bellowed into his face: 'Breathe, you fucker, breathe!'" [the last sentence being the chorus of the Ministry song "Breathe".]

Christopher Reeve was the best Clark & Superman because of this wonderful scene where his change of posture, gestures & tone of voice are all perfectly calibrated within a beautifully composed shot.
No CGI required to show his transformation.
He & Margot Kidder are much missed.

The only reason I'm familiar with this one is that a friend of mine, who I was crushing on big time, was a VF fan and she taped it for me. The upside was that I ended up buying the Add It Up compilation, which I still have, and which is probably all I need tbh.

While shopping today I saw a signed copy of this for $50. You’re really paying for the signatures - they can’t give away unsigned copies.
