Recently I got invited to join the new Godot UX team. When I have time I will be helping testing editor PRs and make Godot more usable for everyone.
What are some of the most annoying things about Godot UI/UX that you think need attention?
Cool cloud footage
seriously considering getting a thinkpad t480 for gamedev, but i worry a bit about the processor...
maybe it will be good for game development though for it to be assumed nobody on earth can afford stuff like ray tracing
In case you were wondering, our next game will have an eyebrow as the icon...
Yeah, this game's too clever by half. Just as it's occurring to me that - unlike Pathologic 1/2 and their contiguous open world, this one is broken up into small regions - it drops this on me:
Godot really is pretty good, huh? It genuinely took some time to click, but I've found my flow and am really enjoying my nightly hour or two working on a tiny side project as my upcoming release has started wrapping up.
It might be slightly more moral to pirate the game at this point, considering that the money-men fired all the lead creatives on the Disco Elysium team, but if you've ever wanted to own one of the best RPGs/narrative experiments in gaming and didn't already... It's free today.
I spoke to a dozen professional concept artists working in games about whether generative AI image tools have made their jobs easier, even if it's just used in "very early ideation stages."
Zero said "yes." Most said it made their job harder.
I learnt a lot about concept artists. You should too!

Making A Game Where You're A Decayed Cyborg Arthurian Knight

I picked up No Players Online both to support it after the DMCA thing and because I wanted to see how they expanded what was in the Haunted PS1 Demo Disk version, but no one told me it went all-in on the 90s OS/Internet as a framing device! I love this stuff.
Introducing 'Camelot 10000CE'
A decayed cyborg knight awakens in the far future. You can only move and fight by typing commands.
Coming some time this month, go wishlist!

for real though godot is one of the few projects out there that actually democratizes gamedev instead of talking about democratizing it
I was today years old when I learned that there's a flag to ensure a signal does the connected thing only ONCE! Super useful! #godotengine
(I no longer have to manually ensure boing() is unboing()'ed)
Looks like Death Grips are finally working on new material! Thought it'd never happen at this point.
For reference, it has been 2693 days since their last album, and the entire span of their original run (first EP to last album) was 2663 days.
beautiful!
