It's exhausting- the constant feeling of having to keep up, having too much to do & not enough time. So many of us feel this
Then a voice in my head says- think of what's in your control, 'put your own oxygen mask on' etc. We all know this
So hard though isnt it- to care & see so much that's wrong

📰 As part of @community-care.bsky.social 'Neurodiversity Belongs in Social Work' campaign, BASW England Acting Chair, Shantel Thomas describes the personal cost of masking her neurodivergence for a decade and why, as a black woman in the sector, she previously felt unsafe to disclose.

It's okay to feel just as proud of your #Neurodivergence as you are to feel, at least sometimes, that it has its annoying and frustrating days, too. But honestly, if shame is the only thing you can feel right now, focus on finding your tribe, your people, your community.
“They're also politically self-defeating, likely to alienate Labour’s progressive support base, and they won't convince Reform supporters that imitation is better than the real thing.
“Labour would be wise to drop them and focus on measures to address the worsening cost of living crisis.”
“The home secretary’s proposals are a nasty attack on migrant workers, who are the backbone of our NHS and social care system, and do so much to enrich society more widely.
Happy World Social Work day to my bluesky social worker friends and connections. You're always incredible humans 💛
Here’s the social justice argument for reversing the trend for social care spending to come increasingly from council tax not general taxation.
Wes Streeting is planning a Cass review for neurodivergency. We are the latest group targeted for public punishment in Labour's vain quest for rightwing support. Lives will be ruined and lives will be lost if they get their way.

It's so normalised to 'play the game', to use the right buzzwords, to 'go the extra mile' out of good will. All to fit in. It's exhausting & hides a reality of fear, cronyism, & watching your own back.
I like people who are themselves- who show their real humanity. I like their courage & integrity.

Over the last year, our community helped us rethink what safety, accountability, and care look like in practice. The result is a refreshed safeguarding approach. www.coproductioncollective.co.uk/news/safegua...
Thanks @leannecpowner.bsky.social I needed to read this today 🙏🏻
Important thread.
"We just need to listen/be kind/work together..." etc
Sounds sooo easy right?
When we treat these qualities as easy, we risk misunderstanding what's really involved, & risk feeling like we've personally failed when we find it's more of a struggle than it sounds. The reality is way more complex.
Damning verdict on England social care as peer says system needs a 'reckoning'.
22 major reviews over 3 decades. Govts do nothing.
No integrated healthcare system. Social care privatised. Corporations profiteering. Public money buys less. Govt handing the NHS to them as well
End privatisation.
@spillersk.bsky.social talks about research practice partnerships as the way forward for research in social care @hscwru.bsky.social 😊

Santa Fe Archbishop John Wester on why he's imploring the White House to change course on immigration, why he sees this as "a Bonhoeffer moment," and why Catholics must keep speaking up. Read more at @ncronline.bsky.social: www.ncronline.org/news/border-...
Only 25% of the white electorate in Gorton & Denton voted Reform. Farage may as well complain that the election was ‘stolen’ by white Britons who didn’t vote at all, or who voted against bigotry.
What's an alternative approach? Gradually nurturing conditions for people to participate, share diverse views, grow relationships & listen to each other. In these conditions, a complex system may become healthier & progressive. But it's much more organic/evolving, rather than directed/controlled 2/2
I've come to understand that attempting to promote some kind of simplistic 'culture change' in a complex system like healthcare is pretty much a waste of time. Things like 'raising awareness', campaigns, 'improvement' initiatives- they don't sustain. This just isnt how change works 1/2
As of tonight, licenses of trans people across Kansas are being invalidated en masse, enabling the overnight criminalization of an entire group of people for going about our lives. It’s often said you never know when you’re living through history, so let me assure you: that’s what’s happening now.
