"If you are trying to protect life on Earth, you are working in an era defined by loss."
As with climate scientists, many on the frontlines fighting for the living world are suffering a mental health crisis.
It's *vital* we mind ourselves, and each other.

Been meaning to draw a Nanotyrannus for a while now. Can you guess where the color pattern is from?

A Valentine’s Day commission that finally arrived at its destination - an intelligent dinosaur of the old 80s variety, only this time with more feathers!
I am opening up commissions for those interested. $20 for sketch, $35 for a colored piece (like below). Paypal is my only accepted transaction for the moment.
Grinning like a 5-year old getting his participation trophy at the post-season T-ball pizza party.

Biggest technological revolution in our lifetime and it's not AI:
A truly breathtaking piece of art. It's amazing how a couple of cells led to all this beauty.
This digitally painted piece honors the survivor spirit of the coyote by tracing its lineage from the first cells of life to the animal trotting our landscapes today. Below the horizon, carefully chosen ancestors mark pivotal moments in adaptation, each contributing to the form and survivor we see today. Above the horizon, Coyote stands alert at the center, framed by both Denver’s skyline and a mountain backdrop, symbols of their ability to thrive in cities as well as wilderness. Embedded in the ground are the skulls and bones of carnivores whose lineages ended long ago, emphasizing Coyote’s persistence in contrast.

The thread gives descriptions of all the extinct organisms shown in this piece (not to scale)

Some museums/institutions (and even artists like Damir G Martin) sometimes place manually-drawn/modelled creatures in an AI-generated environment. At first glance it may appear to be an okay decision, but is it?
Short answer: NO.
(1/10)
This is really gross: a book full of plagiarised #paleoart published by a legit UK publisher. As if we don't have enough problems with AI! There is no excuse for the author/artist not knowing better, either: this isn't the first time they've been caught committing major acts of plagiarism.
A pair of strange, bird-like bipedal pterosaurs with flamingo-like postures and cat-like feet perch upon the carcass of a dead sauropod. Another pterosaur soars overhead. In a bubble on the too right, a robin and a small pterosaur are compared to the feet of Quetzalcoatlus, which utterly dwarfs them.
Behold: one of the very strangest Quetzalcoatlus illustrations ever published. This is by Michael Berenstain, from his 1991 book “Flying Dinosaurs” which is terribly named but packed with idiosyncratic and exciting artwork.

More images in a scientific paper that can be described as low quality, of questionable accuracy, environmentally damaging, job stealing and copyright infringing.
Hey, maybe it's time for scientific journals to just stop accepting AI-generated images?
it appears plagiorizer William Toosey tries his shit again, that's my Propalorchestes in his "Journey through the Cenozoic".
I suspect this is just the tip of it. Many of these are just other people's work with a new texture slapped on top.
Lots of JRC art here.
Look what came in the mail today! So excited. #dinosaurs #biology
