Shirkers itself would've been a very divisive piece of media in 1980s singapore (from what we know of it, anyways) and it's hard to really picture the real impact of what we lost with it being ripped away. Something about that is just very provocative to me, I guess

Recently saw Shirkers (2018) in one of my film courses and it was a very raw look into a piece of Singapore's history that I think covers a piece of film that WAS in itself dangerous (and never came out because of it) the effects it had on film history and the lives of these people is unshakeable

what do we consider boundary-pushing nowadays when it comes to art? when was the last time we interfaced with art that felt dangerous? especially when it comes to video games and film
