I’ll take a deeper look into collective social and open social this weekend!
In the talk I heard there was registration for apps, is this open registration?
Also as an app, I’d need to make a bunch of groups, that’s possible right?

Oh that’s super cool. I tried to do this for Koreader. But I’m still waiting on them to accept my PR. I wanted my Kosync server to be built into bookhive: github.com/nperez0111/k...
Sure! Why not. I do book matching on title and author and that seems to be enough for most cases
2. Book clubs based on books, where the book is the topic, and people can share their experience of a book asynchronously. It makes reading a book more of a shared experience where you can read a chapter and see what others thought at that point. It is centered on a book, so anyone can join along
I've been thinking about book clubs in two ways, given that you are apart of one, I wonder how well it resonates with you:
1. Book clubs with friends, like a traditional book club where a group can nominate books & share their thoughts as they read & can keep track of each other's progress
@brittanyellich.com I just watched your bsky.app/profile/brit... #Atmosphereconf talk.
I heard from a few people that you were doing some interesting stuff that I might be interested in, and they were right!
I'd love to see if BookHive could add book clubs based on @opensocial.community
I'd love more import options!
Ok so then it is losing your progress if it gets marked as finished…
Sorry about that I’ll fix that.
🐝 very kind words! I hope that it can make a bunch of people move off of it.
Sorry you ran into a bug
I couldn't tell which book specifically this was, it would be stored as bookProgress like: pdsls.dev/at://did:plc...
Thanks for reporting! I'll take a look into it!
OK, this is a UI only bug, it still stores these into the repo. So then I have two bugs, not displaying progress when you've saved some and displaying the pages read. I'll take a look into it
Oh this is a bug then. Let me check whether it still saves it for you in your repo
On a book info page, there is a field to track the number of pages read. If we think that we know the number of pages to a book we prefill it as the total number of pages
Each book would have to be tracked like this.
Should be good now!
Whoops, I'll take a look
After a fearsome battle against bots trying to scrape the site & ruining the performance for actual users. The hive has prevailed!
If anyone sees performance issues with the site, please tag me with what you saw!
I'm not sure what took me so long to implement this, but we now have logins that last for 180 days, and if you use the app within that window, you may never see a login screen again!
I went this way after hearing the atprotoconf talk vod about @bookhive.buzz! If I'm way off I hope someone tells me 😅
Very cool to see! I’m not sure I’ve seen this pattern in other places either.
I think it’s a great idea! But, obviously I’m biased 🤣
I’m confused on the question here. But you can change the status of your book by looking at its details page
Finally, Apple got around to approving the corresponding mobile app for the BookHive V2 update!
Check it out on iOS: app.bookhive.buzz
I spent this morning on a more robust import. I hope that it works better for you now. Importing a CSV twice, it should already know which books are imported so you can safely try again to make sure it caught everything.
Hm it should handle way more than that. What happens if it is more than 20?
Go for it! Just pushed a couple of updates
Deployed another fix, I hope it didn't cut you off 🫣
it choked on an error. Fixing the root cause now
Hi, I think I may have fixed it, can you give it a try?
Hi, I think it should be working again, can you give it a try?
