I don't really know what to conclude from any of it other than that most people, including most supposedly left-leaning people, have no real coherent politics at least as it pertains to body liberation, and they really are just chasing trends, and that's depressing as hell.
And the effect is that the "criticism" sounds an awful lot like "Ugh, remember when people online were sincerely arguing that fat people shouldn't be bullied/abused/discriminated against for existing? And we went along with it?? Awkward!!!"
Instead it's just this snide, I'm-so-embarrassed-for-you sort of air that resembles the way people talk about the ironic mustache fad or other equally trivial, trendy shit from around the same time.
