Only nine conifer species make up almost all UK commercial forests. Sitka spruce accounts for over half of all timber harvested.
To boost resilience to climate change, Forest Research and partners (Forestry and Land Scotland & Forestry England) planted 17 emerging species over 9 large trial sites.
