sharing a couple ways local folks can keep the “hell yeah we are building stuff!” momentum in the next few weeks:
1) @mutualaidmamas.bsky.social is holding a free store on 11/22 at the East Somerville Community School and there are LOTS of volunteer opps starting now: forms.gle/aPEaRKZ4u6nb...

All the most ridiculous advice you've ever heard about avoiding #Violence, repackaged for the 2020s. Come see what #TikTok is telling young people about crime, violence and safety!
Spoiler alert: it's ridiculous.
A little behind, but it was an honor to present at this year's National Sexual Assault Conference #NSAC2025 last week. Thank you @valor.us for inspiration, challenge, critical conversation and fun!
What the ACTUAL?!?!?!
20 years ago, Hurricane Katrina thrashed lower Louisiana in the eerie early morning hours of August 29.
6 days after landfall, NOPD officers shot 6 Black citizens on the Danziger Bridge and hatched a cover-up with their supervisors. #TDIH
NEW: The Texas Republican lawmaker who blocked Democrats’ effort to filibuster the state’s gerrymander suggested “shoot, shovel and shut up” as a way to deal with immigrants — a comment that could boost legal efforts to block the state’s map.

There’s not enough evidence about what makes us safer. But @megstoneimpact.bsky.social says the evidence we do have is that self-defense programs that are explicitly feminist and that focus on familiar sexual assault reduce sexual assault by 50% or more.
It is not compliance that makes us safer, but resistance, critical thinking, self-advocacy, and choice. - Meg Stone
That’s true for safety. It’s also true for visibility.

Fascinating history. I didn't realize the role the AIDS crisis and the Reagan administration played in our current sex ed landscape. Can't wait to read this book!
In the world we’re living in now, every definition of gender-based violence has to be inclusive of trans people, non-binary people, and men. @megstoneimpact.bsky.social
Ghislaine Maxwell raped over a thousand little girls and right now she's at a Club Fed in Texas eating better food and receiving better health care than America's working poor. A clear symptom of a terminally ill society. If this doesn't piss you off, you are sub-human scum.
This.

NEW: Greystar, which manages nearly 950,000 apartments, has agreed to stop using “anti-competitive” algorithms to suggest rents.
ProPublica previously showed how such software lets landlords set rents in a way that could result in cartel-like behavior.

I am really looking forward to reading this book!
If you're tired of racist, sexist, fear-mongering, stranger-danger safety advice (or you just want to know what your teenager is seeing online) check out this free workshop! TOMORROW 8/7, 7pm Eastern. (And again in September)

More #Lateadopter catch-up. Here I was on CSPAN.

Sounds about right.
💯.
Throughout her travels across the globe, @sgriest.bsky.social observed that art holds many meanings for women artists. Art is a form of reconciliation. Art is a form of dissent. For her, art is a form of healing.
Ever the #Lateadopter trying to catch up on BlueSky! Here is my piece on @oldstermag.bsky.social . Thank you @saribotton.bsky.social
It takes so much more heart, energy, and creativity to fix a problem than to point it out and diminish imperfect solutions.
Trying to get used to this platform. #LateAdopter
