Presenting coauthored work on truancy this afternoon. We use a pretty cool dataset to explore questions related to habitual truancy and the courts. Stop by our session to learn more! #AEFP2026

I chaired an awesome session on understanding + responding to student absenteeism this morning. The panel highlighted findings from qual + quant studies from 5 states, underscoring the role of policy + practice, sense making + discretion, and the need for resources in promoting attendance #AEFP2026
Congratulations to all our #AEFP2026 Award Winners!
So excited to get #AEFP2026 started! Session tip: introduce yourself when you ask questions during the Q&A. This is a friendly conference! We're always happy to meet new folks here to learn about the latest in #EdResearch.

Please see a manuscript through peer review if you can! Adding new reviewers after R&R can be hell for authors.

Recently wrote from Old City Kava! Love the vibe! Early hours, late closing. The city needs more of this. #coffeeshopchronicles

New article with @schoolfinance101.bsky.social rethinking cause and consequence in U.S. school funding inequality, highlighting how an emphasis on consequences has sidelined deeper, historical causes, and why QuantCrit offers a path forward. Please read/share!

Worked from a new coffee shop in Ardmore today. Nice vibes for morning meetings and afternoon data cleaning. It was a little on the colder side so I’ll be sure to bring a shawl next time. #CoffeeShopChronicles
Does any Mac user (that has Excel) ever want to open their csv file with Numbers?! No matter how many times I set the default to Excel, the file still opens in Numbers 🤷🏽♀️
6 am school wake up and the first thing my 8 year old son said was, “did the justices win the election? did they keep their seats?” referring to Donohue, Dougherty, and Wecht in PA. He was over the moon about it. “Yay we won!”. Then we had a mini lesson on federal, state, and local government.
Really excited about how my research agenda on truancy has taken off. I'm this year's keynote speaker for the Becca Conference which brings together education, justice, and community experts to expand best practices on engaging and supporting youth and families in crises (including truancy).
Know any undergrads interested in research in the social sciences, humanities, or fine arts? If so, tell them about MURAP! Applications close on 1/30.
Fun fact? I did MURAP as an undergraduate. It was a game changer for my career.

Hi AEFPers! I am looking for 1-2 more reviewers to review proposals for the K-12 (academic and non-academic) interventions section. The time commitment is late September through early November. Please message me if you're interested and I can email you additional details. Thanks for considering!
Recently worked from Soyu, a new coffee shop on Chestnut. Nice space, refreshing tea, and not too far from campus. I’ll be back for more writing and matcha. #coffeeshopchronicles
